I don’t really have relationships with my cousins. We did, until I realized I initiated everything (communication, seeing each other, etc) and the relationships were incredibly one sided. When I fell back, any sort of relationship ceased to exist. Now, years later, they are having weddings and babies and there seems to be an expectation from my family to be present for these things, but to me it’s a lot of effort for people who don’t care about relationships with me. Not sure how to navigate.

Ok so I've read or heard about layoffs recently from all big four except KPMG (obviously with the worst being at Deloitte and PwC and then some at EY in specific teams or sectors). Continued below:

2 months before we sent everyone home in 2020 we rolled out a "Dress your Day" policy that allowed for professional jeans (dark wash, little to no fade, not skinny jeans/jeggings). Now that we are starting to filter back into the office we are noticing a lot of "slippage" of the dress code. Examples; hoodies, athletic shoes, overalls, tight/light jeans, etc. We are open to adapting our policy and would like to know what others are doing. What is too casual in your firm?

How much does Deloitte allow for one to expense on their phone bill?

Anyone has worked for Treasury Department or has heard stories about someone working there? I am trying to explore that possibility. I think this is treated as great experience for tax practice. It seems some top talents from big four or law firm are there. Try to see if anyone has some insights and try to work towards that goal.

Its hard for me to focus/be productive in the cramped/small audit room at the client. I don't have this issue in the office or at my own desk. Should I confide in my team about the issue or just deal?

Hi EY and Fishes everywhere! I might be getting an offer to join tax as an S1 (or exp. assoc), probably not being able to start until mid August based off how the process has been. However, I currently work at a mid size firm and we’re already getting into busy season. How would it look if I asked EY to postpone my start date till after 10/15 and say that I’m not ready to be thrown into a Big 4 busy season and that I don’t want to leave my current firm out to dry.
