Me! Leverage talent. Have a clear goal, don’t be scared to invest in that goal. Keep overhead tight and don’t pay yourself a real salary until it actually starts to work. Been in it for 12 yrs now.
Know your niche. If you can’t say what’s special about your agency in one sentence, you might have a tough road.
Find a rainmaker or be the rainmaker.
Remember that good leaders let their people eat first
Strong Mission statement. Find what the agency is really strong at and sell that first. Learn from mistakes. Use freelancers at first if needed to. Don’t give up. Be very very picky with talents. Find partners who are good at that you suck at.
All partners need to know where the money is. First agency I worked at tanked because of a partner using company money illegally.
On that note, hire people who are good at the parts you’re bad at or don’t have a passion for.
