Ask if they’re ok with it. Some people appreciate it, others not.

Interesting to hear the responses. I have never worked in a company or a team where this was normal until this current job. And here, I’ve observed this, what I consider weird, behavioral trait where people are setting up times on other peoples calendars so that it acts as a reminder for others to do their job.

like

That’s true, but many senior leads, partners or whatever title they use are usually insanely busy. While you did ask that admins/secretaries need not respond, I was an admin in a past life and can attest that senior folks usually have to juggle so many commitments. If you’re junior in your career, this shows that you’re a team player and it really is a non-invasive way to stay within a timeline.

You’re right, we’re all adults and should be able to manage time effectively. However our clients and life love to throw curveballs, so having a visible reminder front and center can always help us to prioritize accordingly.

like

I do it for major project milestones.

I do it all the time to give my senior leads heads-up when they can expect work from me. I do it as an all-day reminder so it’s not super invasive.

Also do it with my PTO so they know exactly when I’m out because let’s be honest, no one remembers your out of office days and will send emails, but they always check their own calendars.

I think I hit a new big law big-low today. On track for 2650 hrs this year so already burned out. Had an intense video call (today, a Sunday) with the partner (who always has his camera on so we are obliged to do the same) about a Purchase Agreement. Really had to pee, but the partner was being nice and we were having a good back and forth on the drafting so I didn’t feel I could cut the partner short. Couldn’t hold it in. Chose the partner over my own dignity. Time to quit? Pls console me

Med Tech 1 in Microbiology department at Rush University Medical Center for $28.60/hr. M-F, 1st shift. 2 years experience as Med Tech 1 in Molecular department at Quest Diagnostics. Yay or nay on the offer? Quest currently pays them $25.88/hr plus 15% shift differential because they’re night shift.

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.
