🐠, who here shops at Nordstrom? Where will you put it among H&M, Macys, Kohls or other big box retailers in fashion, trendyness and potential to not go JCP or Sears’s route of going bankrupt in near future?

Nordstrom is substantially better than any of those stores and in a completely different class of retail.

I actually shop at Nordstrom and use their Trunk Club service. Amazon isn't checking for that market. Why does this feel like a grad school discussion question being answered. Lol.

Did you mean Nordstrom Rack? Flagship Nordstrom is in the same bucket as Neiman or Saks, though that bucket isn’t doing that much better (e.g., Barneys, Bergdorf).

They are higher end than any of those listed retailers but probably on their way towards JCP and Sears in terms of financial performance. Look at their stock in last couple of weeks.

I’ve been shopping at Nordstrom since I was a teen (30s now) and it does not belong in the same sentence as the stores mentioned. Some cities don’t get the high end Nordys but it’s still up there with NM, Barneys, Saks etc. Nordstrom Rack sort of ruined the brand IMO though.

Nordstrom is closer to a Bloomingdales, neimans and saks. Nordstrom carries a barysty of different brands including some luxury. There customer service is axing which is why I tend to buy from them rather than the brand itself because I know I can return the product at any time if it gets damaged fir my money back or a replacement. Most places leave you in the dust after 30 days. They also are known for their signature events like the anniversary sale which is an semi exclusive sale that Nordstrom cardholders get access to first before the public. Exclusivity I think is important to a brand. H&M is fast fashion, Kohl’s is fit paying the lowest prices and stacking discounts, and Macy’s is more of a mid-tier accessible sulfide similar to a Nordstrom but doesn’t have the brands or exclusivity Nordstrom does. I would say Nordstrom is like a “Tory Burch”, mean it’s still accessible but on the higher side of luxury, while Macy’s is like a “Michael Kors”
