I get and take 4 weeks of PTO. 2 weeks over the summer, 1 week in the spring or fall, and then a few Fridays off here and there. I’m in big law, and most of my department does the same.
2 weeks every August, then 2-3 5 day weekends here or there
2 weeks in the summer, 2 weeks in the spring, one week in December. I bill 2300.
I work half day on Sundays and sometimes on vacation.
I do two weeks over the summer, one week some other time, and a number of long weekends, usually tacking a day or two onto another public holiday
I haven’t taken more than 2 days off in a row, but come late winter I do plan on taking 2 weeks off. As long as my work is caught up and I don’t have trials scheduled (which, thankfully depends only on me) I’ll def be vacationing.

Always a 2-week trip then other time off periodically up to a week

PSA:just because you take your entitled vacation does not make you a “bad” person AND just because you don’t take a vacation doesn’t make you a “good” person. All this capitalism brainwashing into never taking a vacation or having a life IS the cause of so many mental health issues and suicides. STOP making people feel bad for taking the time they are ENTITLED to!
Days off? Are you crazy? Bill. (Sarcasm)

Trying but it’s so hard with work commitments. I don’t care that it’s frowned on but it’s been way hard to get someone to really cover for me (which is annoying bc I just covered two parental leaves for my colleagues and am now covering a third).

I find it so stressful to take off time because then I’m just flooded when I get back. I took one week off when I moved states / bought my first house. When I was living out of state from family, I took the last full week of December pretty much every year (which is easier since no one is working).
We don’t have PTO at my firm. We have unlimited time off, but of course, it’s not really unlimited if you have to bill hours.
While I think it might be nice to take two weeks off straight, I do like being able to take a day off here and there or work half days when I’m not feeling it. The problem with taking huge chunks off is that you limit your ability to take those one off days.
I normally do 3, though one is generally over/around Christmas so it is slow anyway. Have done this since my first year in practice at boutique law firm (was there 5 years, now in house).
