Has anyone taken an unpaid leave on H1b without leaving the country? I am just really burnt out with work, kids and taking care of my wife who is recovering from a severe case of covid. Would love to not work for a month. She is on H4.
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
A year into a promotion without a raise to match. I've tried everything short of going full-Karen on HR. Other than the principle of the matter, I don't want to leave. Has anyone else has success navigating this BS? Is anyone else still hearing Covid as an excuse to raise freezes?
Had covid, got J&J, just tested positive for Covid again. Same symptoms, did anyone experience a shorter turn around time
If you tested positive for covid 3 weeks ago and feeling better and no more symptoms would you go to the store (masked of course) if you didnt have a test done yet to confirm you're negative?
Alixpartners fishes - have you started traveling again? Do you foresee your travel requirements reducing post covid
After a year of chaos from Covid and furlough I don’t know what the hell I’m doing with my career anymore
What activities and hobbies have you picked up during covid-19? I find my typical activities getting more and more mind numbing the longer this drags on and am looking for some suggestions off the beaten path.
So we hired our own doctor to be on a firm wide WebEx about how COVID is ok. When pushed on whether the Dr would travel, he says “No.” LOL @ the idiocy of my firm.
We shouldn’t be concerned as much about Covid-19 as we should be about the pressure this will put on our emergency infrastructure causing indirect impact to services of those in need of other...
Argued with my colleagues if we need to wear masks. I am an Asian and I heard lots of terrible Coronavirus from my family members and friends who live in those highly exposed areas..maybe I overacted?
I have patients that are continuing to work despite testing positive for covid. So hard to see these people choose between poverty and eviction and taking the precautions they know are right
I am currently situated in the US and plan to do a landing in Canada for PR stamping. Any recent experiences going through this? Can I just land, get the stamping and fly back? Or do I need to wait back for negative covid test?
Now that I’m in industry, what’s the secret to getting free expensive meals from consulting firm partners and SMs? My older cousin is at a Fortune 100 place and pre covid basically required steak dinners for pre sales meetings and I want in
For those, who are immigrants, what made you stay in New York? Would be especially interested to hear from those who didn’t come for economical reasons. I am told the excitement about the city wears off 😅 I am European, just came 2 years ago and am still loving it, but also start to wonder if staying in a job I don’t like it’s all worth it (I am on L1 visa, so no way to find a new job). Life in Europe isn’t too bad either.
What is a standard amount personal paid of time off in consulting (excluding national holidays)? Asking in days per year. Current offer is for 10 but that’s less than my old firm. However this is my first job switch so I’m not sure what’s considered average.
For those applying to schools in round 1 and round 2: are you sending thank you cards / gifts to your recommenders now or after they submit the round 2 LORs?
SAP FICO Consultants looking out for change may contact me . MBA/CA preferred with at least 3/4 years of relevant experience.
Do those from MBB and BB banks have best shot at B School? I rarely hear about T2s and Big 4 getting into m7
Does uber give you guys the option to use your amex points to pay in the app? That option never pops up for me so I had to buy an uber gift card w my points
I got an offer at AWS for an L4 role. It's a $50K sign on bonus + $80K base + $100K RSU. I have 0 years of experience - just entering the job market. How would this compare at Azure or similar companies?
My friend is looking to hire auditors with financial services background (2-5 years) into a tri-State area fund! If anybody is looking for that type of role, happy to help connect a fellow PA and help them get a big raise and better work-life balance :)
Hello! Anyone have recommendations of a good OBGYN in the Fairfax, VA area? I don’t have a gender preference but definitely would like someone experienced because I expect complications with my age and genetic stuff etc. I will be cross posting across other threads too.
AM here, on our corporate AMex card who pays the yearly 115$ for the rewards points? Is this exoensed
Analytics&research with hedge fund front office role - what would be a good range for someone with ~5 years of experience? NYC market
Mask off: Journalist to freelance copywriter. Started working full-time under contract for an agency that won't hire me. I've freelanced for agencies and in-house marketing teams, but I'm always the outsider looking in. I want to transition to a full-time permanent gig. Interviews seem to go well, 2 agencies went to 3 interviews and nothing. I know I'm totally missing something that agency insiders would understand. Would love advice on navigating uncharted territory. Thank you!
Any thoughts on ESPPs? I finished a final round with a startup who was acquired by a well known corporate company in late 2020. The startup used to offer stock but now employees can only buy stock through the parent’s ESPP at a 15% decrease of market rate (currently $300/share). Base would be $140K, 10% bonus. Do you think negotiating for more base because there’s no stock in TC would be a good idea? And any experience with ESPPs?
Damn. Was lucky enough to land an interview. The interview went numerous rounds, it was super positive, so then I decided I would be 100% honest about something I wasn’t good at, in hopes of being clear that I was ready to grow. Then I got ghosted, and I think it’s because of the said honesty. Feeling low and stupid for ever admitting a “fault” in an interview instead of just telling them that I’m perfect.
How come some of the H1B applications are processed quickly (in a day or two) whereas others are still in queue for 12 days on premium processing? Don’t they follow sequence number?
Went to team event. Had a good time, left. Got to hotel & saw text saying I should Uber to xyz place to go out. Politely declined, and was still hounded about it. It really made me feel shitty. (cont)
Aye, someone re-post the comp hack!
Anyone use Ivy MBA consulting? http://www.ivymbaconsulting.com/ I’m between them and Harold at MissionMBA (stratus before)
