Having a hard time getting acclimated to my new firm. I came from a small firm where the training was more straightforward. This new firm has me on an engagement with a manager and the manager is less than helpful. The training has been less than adequate and I don’t feel like I’m getting anything done. I completely obliterated the budget it seems like based off of the schedule they put me on. I just need to vent and let anyone who is a senior associate and up. Help your new hires.

**********LEAD FEEDBACK & RATINGS*******

How are the ratings decided at EY GDS?
We add minimum of three people for LEAD feedback.

How are feedbacks from different quarterly cycles decide year end ratings?

Or is it simply that Counsellors and SM's sit and decide on ratings and hikes for the counselees??

Thoughts on Prosci or SHRM-SCP certification? Which would be considered more valuable or highly regarded? Currently focused on Change Management but have a HR background (industry experience / area of study in college).

My partner got a City of Toronto offer. Salary band is 104-121k. HR asked for his expectations and he said 115k. HR came back with a 106k offer stating nobody on the team makes that much so they cant offer it. Also said she is unsure if there is any wiggle room if any at all. I’ve looked at everyone on the team with the same titles salary on the sunshine list and the lowest I see is 121k. I assume there is an OT component of some sort but also can’t confirm. Thoughts? /negotiating advice?

Anyone have any info on the state or Pearson security lately for international departures? Are the lines as bad as they have been reported if you have nexus? Trying to figure out how early I need to be there ahead of my vacation flight on Friday

Not sure where to put this, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts here on what smaller Saas companies should expect or prepare for this economic downturn.

People who are 40+ and happy with their life, what is your advice to people in their 20's?

Did a first interview with hr rep, went very well. she set up the hiring manager meeting for a few days later. Met with the manager. Another great conversation, went over time and was told I’d hear back about panel set up. Following day I get a request from hr rep to “continue the conversation” with manager. This is set up Tuesday.
Why do you think the manager wants to meet again? Good? Bad? I felt great about the interview when we ended.

Interested to see some perspectives - currently working at a Payroll & Benefits Specialist at a fast growing company and recently passed my PHR! I just started this role only a few months ago but am already feeling like I can take on more, but not as much as a HR manager. I’m struggling to understand where exactly it is I can go from here. I’m 25, have 3 years of experience, and get paid $59k/year.

Where does one go from here? Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Hi, do you know of any company offering Visa sponsorships for HR positions in the US? I am based in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I am looking for new opportunities in the US. Any recommendation on how to start this journey is much appreciated! TY.

Does anyone have experience recruiting statutory 1099 employees? I’ve recently interviewed with a company that recruits non W2 employees and was told I’d have to be comfortable asking questions in the interview that I might normally not be accustomed to asking W2 employees- namely their age, marital status, questions about family makeup and financial stability, etc. I was told that this was acceptable with 1099s. Any insight on this?

Looking for advice on a career path in HR/Talent Acquisition. I have 7 yoe in HR (generalist/consultant), but then took a long break/gap, so starting over as a coordinator this year. I’m interested in analytics but my company doesn’t have an immediate need for a dedicated role in analytics yet. I want to move into a higher paying role but not sure where to go from here, especially in a growing start-up environment.

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

What KPIs do you give upper management to set hiring expectations for senior tech talent? What tools do you use to calculate/track applicants vs recruiters screens and submissions vs HM interviews which lead to offers?

There’s no such thing as a perfect job.

I know there are definitely worse out there so it’s hard to put my foot down and resign, I could just stick it out for a year but am feeling demotivated and too exhausted to do anything else but sleep after hours/weekends. Have you ever started working somewhere and although nothing overtly wrong or terrible about the place / colleagues, it just didn’t feel like the right fit & if so, what did you do?

I'm in serious need of a mid-level HRBP to work for me at Deloitte! Can be located most anywhere in the US or CA as we are primarily remote. PM me for more details!

What is the typical base salary and bonus potential for compensation consultants at the senior associate level?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
