My opinion is that it’s a coin toss, honestly. You could get covid and have no long term impacts. You could get covid and struggle really badly through it, or have long term health impacts because of it. You could get the vaccine and have no side effects. You could get the vaccine and be one of the ppl that gets very ill or has other serious side effects. Maybe in 10 years they’ll find out something harmful was in the vaccine. Maybe in 10 years they’ll find out something really harmful about having recovered from covid.

All you can do is make the best decision with the data available now. And right now that data suggests the vaccine is safe for largely everyone. It helps prevent you from spreading covid and likely gives you some immunity from the various strains that will continue to come out. Covid will never go away (in my opinion) but this is likely your best chance at staying healthy and avoiding any long term health impacts. You have to get your immunity one way or another- either recovering from covid or getting a vaccine. It’s so widespread, I don’t think you can remain unvaccinated and return to ‘normal’ life without coming into contact with it.

I am waiting. I made the appointment, downloaded the fact sheet I was instructed to read before my appointment, looked through the VAERS data and decided to wait until the vaccine is fully approved. I’m not an antivaxer or against wearing masks. I think we need to separate people who are waiting for the vaccine to be fully approved from people who are against vaccines. Based on the ongoing study that is still being conducted, changes to the vaccine may be made before final approval. I want to wait until that has been determined.

My decision was made based on my circumstances, because for the last 8 months, I’ve lived a normal life (aside from going into the office, which I’m fine with). I will continue using a mask as a precaution and seemingly avoid the virus, as I have for the last 15 months.

BA1 and EY4 - I totally get that there may be some hesitancy from past “experiments.” But were those related to pandemics? Did they have global pressure, global funding, and global testing before being rolled out to general public? These vaccines were not “rushed,” they were expedited. The same boxes were checked, just faster. If you look at the data, does this not differ from past experiences? Please show me where it does not.

If anything, does the fact that hundreds of millions of Americans have already gotten the vaccines bolster your confidence? Do you think the government would risk the livelihood of so many citizens?

Disclaimer ^ yes I realize that last one is a loaded question because for sure our governmental system clearly favors citizens above others, but this vaccine rollout has been widespread so I think it negates those factors

Hey! Ex-vaccine hesitant here. Initially I wanted others to get it and wait a few months to see what happens. That wait ended and I’m done with my first dose this week. The vaccine is as safe as humanity can allow it to be. I read a lot about the regulations in place and the testing. I personally was satisfied. Do your research and go for it mate. It’s one less thing to worry about for me :) also another thing - I realized it’s not in America’s best interest to eliminate it’s tax paying population :P so they won’t do something nefarious here.

That’s awesome. Good for you D2! I’m glad you were able to find the information that helped you make this decision.

Go get it OP! Herd immunity will be impossible if we don’t continue getting shots into arms and without herd immunity, we give the virus opportunities to continue to mutate

like

Correct. 17% is children under 12 who right now can’t get it. That’s 83%. Heard immunity is what a minimum of 70%? So only 13% can’t get it. Won’t ever happen until children can get it.

Secondly it’s all local. Your city and where you mostly associate will impact your localized herd immunity.

Had covid, will not get the vax, it's that simple. If this was a one-and-done ,I probably would get the vax. But not signing up for the yearly when my immune system has proven its ability to do its job. Que the comments about reoccurring infections being much worse. Yes a risk, but very rare.

Interesting theory BAH, but not backed up by science. Take cellular biology 101 and get back to me.

Healthy, workout every day, eat healthy, take all vitamins daily, no prior history of medical illness. I get the flu shot on occasion, but I’ve never had the flu. I’m going to receive hate for this because people are bullies regarding personal decisions, particularly EY partners who have pried into why haven’t I gotten it, but I don’t feel as if I need it. Plenty of doctors and medical research support this approach, but you won’t see them on mainstream media. Sure, I’ll get it one day. But not now.

likefunnyupliftingsmart

It’s not personal. It is societal and you ARE contributing to deaths, disease and COVID hotspots if you don’t get it. This virus has firmly established the line between I ONLY care about me and I feel a responsibility to my friends and loved ones and community. So very sad. Tragic commentary on where we are now as a society. It is like drinking and driving and saying you are not worried about a DUI. I guess you just don’t care if you kill other people. Hope it works out for you. And hope you have a lot of long term care insurance in case you get a long term case later and can’t work. And I really hope you don’t kill anyone. I am sick of hearing “it’s OK, I am not worried about getting COVID.” Entitled much?

Hard to respect the anti-vax folks. You’re the reason why it will continue to spread, end of story.

likefunny

I guess if everyone else get the vax it will only spread amongst the anti-vax-ers and kill them off right? What's the problem here? I'm surprised you're even bringing it up. You're making it too obvious.

funny

Get your vaccine. You aren't a scientist or someone who understands epidemiology. What reason is the against it? Get it and don't end up in the hospital if your should get covid. Don't get it and potentially end up in the hospital if have some side effect down the line. I'll take my chances with the vaccine.

Sounds like religious fervor to me. Good luck with that. You and the government will no doubt solve everyones' problem.

LOL, this took a different turn after first statement

Best feeing; was like an invisible weight was lifted off my shoulders after getting second shot.

Sounds like a religious experience. Happy for your joy.

The general hostility towards vaccine hesitance is annoying. Nobody has provided a targeted message to young people explaining the outcomes of vaccine vs no vaccine (this is what I’m waiting for). All I have heard is that vaccinating myself will benefit everyone else.

I guess I feel kinda iffy about the new mRNA stuff. Isn’t it genetically modified? I’m leaning towards J&J.

Everything you buy from the grocery stores or put in your mouth have been genetically modified one way or another.

like

Why are you scared? Just a little pinch 🤣

likesmarthelpful

OP, think about this. Why would Pfizer, AZ, J&J all get immunity from lawsuits pertaining to adverse effects?

Why has the FDA not approved any of these jabs?

Why do people buy organic food? Answer: they don't want pesticides and other harmful chemicals in their body. Why would you knowingly inject a foreign chemistry experiment when the CDC already tells you that only 5% of "covid deaths" in the last year were strictly covid and not covid+influenza, covid+gunshot wound to head?

Think about this. Don't let vocal herd influence you. There are more people staying away from it than taking it. Which is why they are incentivizing people with cash, booze and sports tickets to get it. Remember, if it is free, you are the product :)

Another Deloitte person weighing in on healthcare without qualifications apparently. Wish I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen that🤣. Seriously people, this is like every other ‘debate’ going on in society now, and as always people dig in on their position that only getals more intense as the banter continues. Do what you will and let the chips fall. A good day is any day we get to wake up again.

2 weeks ago they said vaxed ppl needed masks. Today they said the opposite. They said it lives on surfaces, then the opposite. They said it’s airborne, then the opposite. They said all vaccines are safe, then the opposite. I’d consider standing back & watching, quarantined to be a wise move considering companies #1 source of info is government. Government is also responsible for the outbreak. It doesn’t take a Humboldt county conspiracy theorist to determine politics reigns over science here

likehelpful

Ah yes, they should have known immediately when a novel virus appeared all of the proper precautions. Scientists can see the future, forget using new data to inform new decisions!! 🔮 🌈
