A union for wirehouse advisors should have been formed yesterday. We have the relationship with the clients...these firms are nothing without us! We need to exert that leverage ! For our clients...for ourselves....for this noble profession

like

I'd gladly pay a reasonable union due in order to have representation and protection from the greed of these wirehouse firms that treat the advisors like chattel

like

Back in the day it was the name of the firm that was the attraction and the advisor expendable. Now post crisis the tables have turned ....wirehouse "names" are a liability and advisors are the glue that holds everything together. It's high time these firms recognize that clients are with them DESPITE their brand name not because of it!

like

If you are with a wh you are in a union. You are in an abusive marriage.

Wouldn't paying a union fee cut into your pay out? It's not free

Unions are for socialist countries last time I checked we are capitalists. If u think you're being abused, leave and go independent you have options.

Are you a communist?

That would be great if it could happen!

I don't agree completely because my clients and myself like the wire house I work for. My avg account size is 900,000 and I rarely take less than 1 million so typically it's not a factor

If you left your firm would your clients move with you?

If yes then that proves my point. I

We FAs must unite!

During union negotiations last year, we asked for a small number of bedside RNs to be in committee on workplace violence (after an RN was actually beaten up by pt. & hospitalized) although almost no cost to administration- they declined so no voice from those ACTUALLY experiencing. Now same “leaders” all in masks getting their pics taken for PR thanking us etc. hassled us on every tiny contract point - now “we’re all in this together?

It’s hard to understand COVID-19 rates of infection where I’m at or was, and the contracts was not inline with corporate ideals at least not in the IT sector. Their ideals was radical and the spread of harmful information on past events to prevent ethnicities to get vaccinated was alarming. It has highest infection rate in private sector. Don’t know death rates was strictly remote and put on non-sanctioned project NDA wasn’t signed and never knew until it came down the grapevine.

J&J or Google? I’m in final stages and expecting an offer on both ends. TC seems about the same but J&J is based in Skillman, NJ whereas Google is in Austin, TX. Non tech roles in the same domain - Main difference is that J&J seems to be a higher level role (senior manager) whereas Google is a more junior one (lead). Any advice?

We are an independent firm looking to purchase books in Upstate NY and Southern OH.

Can someone explain how it possibly makes sense to buy, purely from a financial perspective, in sf right now? I want to, but a 2b mortgage seems like it’s ~$5k in the areas I’m interested in whereas rent for a comparable unit is $2.9-3.5k/month. Have never lived here before so not sure if this is normal or not? Is the covid rental discount that extreme and prices are usually closer to the monthly mortgage amount?
