Just got a promotion to go to 105k + 10% bonus unlimited PTO (trust me when I say I really use my PTO.. 😂) for embedded software engineer in Melbourne Fl. Should I start looking for a new job?

Going from audit to advisory to a competitive firm after 1 year of audit. However, start date is not until Jan 10 at new firm. When do I put in my 2 weeks given the holiday break and busy season beginning? Note: I’m not looking for a “take three weeks off as a mental break” type solution. My wife is still in grad school, so I’m the only earner and we will have lots of loans soon. so even missing 2-3 weeks of pay is missing out on a big opportunity of loan pay down.

Anyone else still working while they are scheduled for PTO?

EY - What is the maternity leave breakdown? 2 weeks prior to DD + X disability + 16 weeks parental leave + up to 3 weeks PTO? Is the usual 6-8 week disability/medical separate from the 16 week bonding leave?

If you’ve ever had to do a doc review exercise with time pressure, did you get paid overtime or were you just expected to do extra hours?

My firm keeps putting pressure on us to do more hours but giving nothing in exchange! (No overtime pay nor extra time off).

How should I bring up that I’d be happy to do overtime hours only if they pay?

Question on 'unlimited PTO'. My last place had this w/was no set rules, we 1st had regular vacay days but when it went to unlimited it was a 'we're adults' understanding to not abuse it. If people used too much, their manager would talk w/them but in general we felt empowered to use it. My new place said at hiring it was unlimited pto, but I've now learned we can't take more than 5 consecutive days & should be ok w it bc they 'give us the weekends so it's really 9 days'. Is this common?

My boyfriend is always on his phone when I approach him to talk about something enthusiastically like may be an incident at work or the vacation details I have planned for us. It’s not like he doesn’t listen to me, but instead of having an eye contact, he is always scrolling through Twitter or some app on his phone. It hurts me and makes me feel unloved/angry. I’m in New York. I’ve got $80k just sitting in my savings account. I can’t afford to buy a place in NY. I’ve considered getting a house or condo in Orlando area since we vacation there quite a bit and I know I can rent out (assuming it’s approved for short term). Would it make sense to buy a place in FL and rent in NY?

29 - single since 3L year. After spending a few years working on myself, I’m re-committing to dating. But ppl with “normal” jobs have apparently decided to only do 1st dates on weeknights? Bc weekends sacrifice their “quality” time? I work til 11 every night and would literally have to find coverage/take time off to pull off a weeknight date. How are single folks working big law hours making time? Every other associate in my group is married to ppl they met pre-work.

PTO Dilemma: I have over 100 hours of PTO remaining from hours carried over from last year that must be used before 12/31. I scheduled out days to use the hours. However, when I put my scheduled PTO in the Utilization Tracker, and include the Thanksgiving holiday and the Collective Disconnect days, I end up below my utilization target. How is that possible? Is it me or is there really something wrong with how utilization is calculated?-

However, even after completion of address verification, I received a mail stating that my address verification was not successful and I was asked to share my permanent address. I did so and also uploaded my Aadhar as a proof of my residence . I have completed this more than two weeks ago but still didn't hear back. Is it ok?
