Not going to lie...I'm struggling. Got into a huge fight and threw (physically and emotionally) my father out of life after I put together a huge National Park camping/road trip and he shit all over it and was psychologically abusive. Enough is enough. Returned home to find my gf of a happy 4 years' stuff gone and a note with the key taped to it. Wasn't expecting that nor the fact there was someone else. Returned the ring today. Am I a fool? Thank God it's Friday. I'm exhausted.
Pwc / S& fish, what is the sick leave policy? Have chronic condition that is getting out of control bc of this job. Want to know if I can take a few weeks before I consider quitting for health reasons
How to adopt “the company doesn’t care about me” mentality? I’ve been trying to reframe work in an attempt to reduce my stress and workaholic tendencies. People always say “at the end of the day, it’s just a job and the company doesn’t care about you” yadda yadda but to me, the pressure and stress comes from caring about my manager’s, leadership’s, and colleagues opinions. It seems like a silly question to ask, but how do I stop slaving away to make them happy? It’s wearing me down.
My mental sanity is going through the roof since I turned off the TV and stopped binging on Netflix/Disney+/Hulu/Prime. I’m using the money I’m saving in cable and subscriptions for small upgrades everywhere. For news I’m using DuckDuckGo (search for news), and for keeping up with friend good old text messaging. Who knew TV was so harmful for mental health?!
Money thread - in chicago. Want to get a nice house in the suburbs (budget is around 800k). One kid is 3 years old. Plan on second. Plan to put kids in public school and then private school for high school and likely fully find kids’ college. How much annual household income would be able to afford this? I’m looking at nice suburbs here. Looks like 800k is entry price and most household has a stay at home wife. Why people are so rich?
I lived abroad (for 10+ years), but now had to be home given an unfortunate family emergency. It’s been one week and I cant believe the amount of negativity, rudeness, accusation, yelling, anger around me on a daily basis. Ive had this toxic family atmosphere growing up driven by behaviours of my narcissistic mother, orbiting negativity around my dad, my brothers, and I. My mother esp. complained about me all the time even during this unfortunate family event - to convey that..

Anyone like to meal prep? I have to drive to my client instead of fly but meal prepping saves me $300 (per diem) - $30 (food cost) per week which doesn't seem bad for two hours of cooking I enjoy.

I’m 26 and have ~40k sitting in my savings account. Annual income 140k. Maxing out 401k. No debt. Planning to invest 25k but don’t know where to start. Should I get a wealth manager? What is the best way to approach this?
Received feedback that I’m not enough of a hardass (google it) with colleagues and clients and that’s going to hinder a promotion. Can I get ahead in consulting being collaborative and approachable?
