Not a consulting question: I screwed up big time in my relationship 2 years ago. I split with someone because I did not have the conviction to be vulnerable and fight for her with my parents. Need advice. I am a big law junior lit associate. My firm is co counsel with another big law firm (firm B). My firm works a lot, decent culture, but like everywhere big we work. To cut to the chase, partners from firm B are hounding me about work, to the point that it blew up thanksgiving, this whole week, and now another weekend. I find this situation to be so ridiculous — I don’t work for firm B, I’m not paid as much as firm B associates, and I’m over my hour requirement. What do I do?

Everyone has heard the excuse “I’m underperforming because my territory sucks”. What if you can prove that you are objectively being screwed by the territory you inherited? There’s only so much “find a way” you can manage in barren land and it’s quite tiresome to see your peers succeed off of less than half the effort. The conversation with management has been had and, while empathetic to a degree, no solution has been offered.

I’m a first year tax staff in PA, and I’m embarrassed by how little I seem to understand about accounting...
