Not me cause I was told my milkshake would bring all the boys to the yard

Not me, I proudly stand with the Dairy Farmers of America.

likefunny

I’m lactose intolerant and super sensitive to casein, it’s like a digestive mayhem brain fog sedative cocktail 🤷‍♀️

But generally I think the crunchy side of America is tuned into our dairy being largely low quality, inflammatory, hormone laden, etc. People don’t know they’re gently addicted to it and when they stop skin and thought clears up.

Further, Americans put dairy in EFFING EVERYTHINGGGG so it may seem like we’re obsessed w dairy-free just bc that label is extra necessary to confirm no sleeper dairy

like

Are we? Americans love cheesy foods and ice cream.

like

Bc "cow milk is not for humans" 🙄

like

it’s this minus the snark. large body of research supports this and an increasing population that is lactose intolerant [to varying degrees]

like

Also for what’s it’s worth, American dairy can different from other dairy like Aus. Certain countries ban types of dairy that US still accepts.

like

Bc milk is processed heavily and loses a lot of nutritional value whilst being a high glucose index food and containing allergens.

I feel so much better when I don’t eat dairy

milk is extremely harmful to your health, and also awful for the environment and animals. Dairy, and in particular casein, as an extremely high correlation with cancer. Milk is essentially growth serum, designed for a different animal, and in the human system cow milk promotes the growth of cancer tumors and cells.

Most consumers are also lactose intolerant. Consuming dairy (that is processing lactose past infancy) requires a genetic mutation that is generally only found in northern Europeans. America as a cosmopolitan country of many races has less general presence of this genetic mutation and that’s a significantly higher level of lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance is extremely high amongst Jews, Asians, Latinos, and people of African descent . This intolerance can be manifest in extreme cramps, indigestion, flatulence, skin irritation, and other issues.

The process of raising cows also has a very significant environmental impact. They were leading cause of CO2, and their waste products are very environmentally destructive.

Moreover, the animal cruelty is significant. In order to get milk, a cow must be impregnated repeatedly, and each time she must be forcibly separated from her baby at birth. At that point, the baby calf is slaughtered, typically within one week of being born, and then sold as veal. The mother goes to extreme emotional agony for months, as she searches for her now stolen newborn. As a parent myself, I can imagine no crueler fate.

So, would you like to give yourself cancer, destroy the environment, and cause untold animal suffering? Or are you OK with drinking almond or soy milk that tastes just the same or better than cow milk?

I like milk but lactose intolerance isn’t that uncommon.

You and me and about 60% of the world. Super sad.

My grandparents had a cow many years ago. They were milking it by themselves, so I was raised eating homemade milk products: milk, sour cream, heavy cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, butter. I can just tell that it tastes much different from what we buy in the store (doesn’t matter if it’s organic or no).
I personally have no issues with dairy products, but I buy only organic believing that those cows are treated better and there are less hormones and antibiotics.

like

Yumm so lucky!

Most milk and dairy in America often comes from cows who are injected with substances that make them produce more milk and are banned in other countries, and they often take the calves away from the moms within hours to days after being born so all the milk is going into the pipeline. Antibiotics are also often used way more than needed to keep production up. Not all dairy farms necessarily follow the same processes but they're also a lot harder to find their milk, cheeses, and butter or they cost a whole lot more.

like

Allergic, though I used to love cheese and ice cream

like

Dairy makes me break out 😔

like

If you ever had milk right from the cow then you know why

I’m lactose intolerant so

They treat their cows so bad ... it’s a coping mechanism

Very relevant points above. Does organic US dairy somewhat counteract these issues?

I know quite a few of the organic dairy farms don't do the rBH (?) hormones or unnecessary antibiotics. Not sure about the calves of not. I just try not to consume much dairy. I do eat beef, but I personally know the farmer we buy it from and he treats his cows very well.

If someone poured melting Gouda into my mouth I would eat it lol

I think like most things Americans have more of a binge culture then enjoying food culture

Because we love cheese, and we are a self-loathing people.
