Why are interviews so intense? It’s like you’re taking a test/exam and being graded. Getting hired is the “pass or fail” part of the test. What if you get hired and they realize you’re someone completely different personality wise and they didn’t know bc they didn’t think of getting to know you when they interviewed you?

Currently looking for entry level jobs (very very hard) and I never understand why interviews are never just conversations about experience and what you’re looking to do. Interviews are horrible for me cause I feel so pressured to perform even though I’m just talking…I really don’t understand it.

It's always been a dream of mine to work at Google, specifically as a UX designer (currently transitioning into UX from visual design). I've been so afraid to apply to any jobs with UX title, Google or not, because I'm always doubting myself and telling myself I'm still under-qualified.

UX designers & hiring managers, what are the skills a designer must have to be "qualified" for a UX position? Keywords on resume? Certifications? Thank you all in advance!

So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I’ve been offered a position that I’m really excited about. Their initial offer was 10K more than the top of the salary range they gave me for the position when I asked during the interview process and at the top end of the salary requirements I set for myself. My partner thinks I should still negotiate for more even though I’m happy with the offer. Am I an idiot if I don’t negotiate in this case? Realistically, I don’t think I’d get much more than that, but should I negotiate out of principle?

I received a referral for a company, however, when the recruiter reached out to me, it was for a role at a higher level than the job I originally submitted for (Manager vs. Sr. Specialist).

I only have a little under 2 years of direct experience for the role and the role requires 5. Should I ask to be considered for the lower level role before moving forward?

As per experience, in current organization working as a lead. Have experience in many of the Java technologies. But when I told I worked it 7 years back every thing vanished and like I'm fresher. They don't even bother to ask questions.

They want web services development, hibernate, react, angular, node. We can't work everything at a time right?

How do you guys tackle this in interview.

So I guess the question here is how to reframe bragging into something more acceptable...
