Why are law firms utterly uninterested in seeking or receiving feedback from associates about how the firm (doesn’t) functions or is(n’t well) managed? It’s a feature, not a bug. Your post ends with could “even” make it more profitable - you forget that that’s the only thing firms care about. Morale doesn’t add money to the bottom line. Unless you prove that there’s a business model out there that generates more revenue, this one’s here to stay (and even then, this one is proven to work, so it’s probably here to stay).

Additional details are too much for this forum. Basically, lots of partners could use some management coaching. I think it would more than pay for itself

I mean, how much do associates on average know about law firm management? It’s not that they can’t figure out the turnover issue, it’s that they are only willing to do particular things to resolve it until that becomes unsustainable.

Short sighted if you’re trying to keep a whole business model afloat, perhaps. Less so when you’re a 65 year old partner who will be dead before the model falls apart.

They do not want input because they know already what they're doing wrong, and know they aren't willing to make the changes to correct it.

Yep. That’s what everyone keeps saying

Shout out to all the mommies/single parents in PA! I recently lost my mother and balancing 60 hr work weeks while home schooling a 9 yr old and making decent “healthy” meals is hella hard. And I only deal with her part-time, I can’t imagine what it’s like with kids on a full-time basis. I don’t see many people address this, but the stress is real when you don’t want to let down your boss and your family at the same time.

After a year including maternity leave, is your bonus pro-rated?

I simply want to say thank you to all the women in this bowl. I had a ton of anxiety through my pregnancy and the support on this site helped me more than I can articulate. My wife and I officially brought home a baby boy and I hope to pay forward the support to the next round of new moms. Women are heroes...

Anyone out there looking for a Senior UX Designer in the remote space? I’m on the east coast, but don’t mind time zones. The pandemic pushed me client-side in Finance, but I miss the creative life. I’m looking for agency, start-up, or client-side that’s creative. Hit me up!

What’s your PTO like? I just started a new position with a $25k increase in salary from my previous role, great benefits (besides PTO), and a good environment …. But I start with 0 hours of PTO and accrue up to 12 days over the course of a year. Am I crazy or is this terrible for a tech position? My previous role, which I hated, had unlimited PTO which we were encouraged to use.

Hi guys,

I joined a company 20 days back due to high ctc. However i am very disappointed with the project quality and day to day tasks.

I am not sure how to sail or accept work that i am doing. Had word with Senior Manager who said that they are judging on different tasks but certainly i am not having positive vibes about work.

Feel like putting down papers but again notice period is of two months during probation.

Shall i stay back for some more time or start looking for better option?

I went from being a 20+ year teacher with no plans of retiring to a teacher who will be retiring ASAP. I have just under 200 sick days and maxed out the salary schedule my 10th year. I can make more money trading crypto than teaching. It’s not all about the money. It’s about this mask for all, vaccines for all and “new normal” for all. I won’t teach instrumental music in a mask or ask my students to practice or perform with masks in this new COVID19 Culture Cult. I’m done.

I’m in the process of being “poached” by a V25 firm and afraid I’ll miss my current firm’s profit sharing contribution that is usually allocated by the end of April. The amount is typically 8-10k. Is it fair to ask for a signing bonus to account for this or what’s a decent equivalent? Anything I’m not thinking about? TIA

I have a roommate (and this will sound bad hence why it’s in the confessions bowl) but I cannot imagine a single girl who could actually love this guy. Does anyone know anyone that you think is like this? Out of shape, unattractive, very dirty and messy, whines and complains about everything, not a great job, bad hygiene, horrible sense of humor, complete lack of social awareness or social intelligence, rude, selfish, and inconsiderate. I have examples ready for every characteristic.
