Because you see numerous reports of people who caught covid, didn't die, but have permanent and chronic damage to their organs(lungs) which they'll suffer for the rest of their lives. Also the virus is new and we don't know much about it and potential mutations once it infects someone. What if it mutates into a strain where the current vaccine in development is completely ineffective against it? Then we start the vaccine timeline again as more people get sick. It's better to be cautious given not knowing what we don't know about the virus. Hence the importance of reducing infection rates as much as possible even before the vaccine is available(and hopefully eradicate it before it potentially mutates into something we can't control even more).

How can you call it permanent? It hasn't even been a year you can't possibly extrapolate so much that you determine that something is irreversably changed forever with less than half a year of data.
"Certainly" LMAO! Only two things are "certain" - death and taxes.
Taxes are not certain for everyone
Generous use of “certainly.” I have no idea what the timeline is but even after vaccination lifestyles will remain changed
They’re on track to for sure have 6-7 vaccines in 2021. Plenty more could be in 2021 as well depending on results. 2022 is only if every single one fails as well as the dozens in development that are on track for 2022. Lifestyles will bounce back for the most part imo.
