"Because they can't get jobs on the east coast" -- obviously it's because the money is just as good, the cost of living is barely higher, and there is good weather and (slightly) better WLB
Stanford grad. New York is our first/second biggest market for firm jobs only competing with DC. There are only 180 grads each year, so even if 30% go to New York, that’s only 60 people. And they tend to cluster at the same 5 or so firms. One firm has over 10 people from my class.
Great campus culture at a small school with a specialized joint degree program in the field of law I work in now. Felt more intimate than H, didn’t get into Y so I didn’t look into that decision as closely. It was my first time living outside of the east coast and I enjoyed being in California for 3 years.
Because the market in Northern California is insanely competitive - read: great for graduates.
