Why did Amazon decide to follow Twitter and Meta? Are they just majorly following the trend, copying one another’s strategy without truly looking in their individual circumstances? Amazon seems to be capable of weathering the economic conditions without layoffs. Please educate me

Does anyone think it’s weird that my firm is bending over backwards to try to keep a first year staff from leaving the firm after she was rated a 2 this year. But now she’s trying to leave and they keep trying to push her to stay saying she can be a partner in 8-9 years and laying it all out in detail. The issue is they laid off other staff (all but her) so maybe that’s it? Find it very odd.
