A big portion of India is vegetarian, and the non-vegetarians there have a lot more chicken/sea food than beef or lamb - problem # 1
If an Indian vegetarian had to go to an Indian restaurant in the US, there are a variety of dishes he/she could pick from. On the other hand, they usually have to stick to soups/salads in a non-Indian restaurant - problem # 2
Our food is a little difficult to wean off of, and a lot of Indians are a bit more conservative with our eating habits, mostly because of the reasons I mentioned in my post above. But generalizing >1 billion people based on the few Indian people on your team would not serve you well :)
A lot of indian people have their palates tuned to only Indian food especially cause it has a lot more vegetarian options.however I think it's unfair that they do not think of others.inclusive works both ways. Me and all my indian friends I know all of us are extremely experimental with food.it also has to do a lot with your upbringing and the city you are in.but the reason they are here is to be open to diverse experiences and they should not only suggest indian places
I'm not Indian but used to work at an Indian firm and asked the same question. The response I got was "all other foods taste bland to us."
1. Indian food has a lot of variety in itself, 2. We had a lot of spices and we know are used it, 3. Most of us will eat Italian and Mexican and everything but yes when it comes to driving it home, its Indian, 4. A lot of Indians are vegetarians
The question is why we all aren't eating more indian food. #indianfoodFOLYFE 😍
That question I always used my Indian friends was "what's the deal with ordering water with no ice?"
It honestly makes a lot of us non-Indians feel bad when suggesting places to eat because a lot of the Indians on my team won't go with us if it's not Indian. Trying to be inclusive as possible.
I refuse to eat Indian more than once a week. It's delicious but afterwards... 💩💩💩. Thought I would get used to it but after 2 years I haven't
Because Indian food can be heavy, and why should we alone be sleepy after lunch. We take the whole team along with us 😎
I totally get the point that Indian food is diverse, but it can't be more diverse then going to totally different restaurants. I just feel bad when they are let down when we decide not to go get Indian food. Also with the comfort thing, I'm comfortable eating Indian food, Italian food, Mexican, American, Thai, etc, so not sure I get the argument that they eat Indian a lot because that's what they are comfortable with.
Because Indian food is bloody delicious. (I'm not Indian).
From my experience, food is filling, tasty and get a variety, especially for vegetarian dishes. Water no ice - Don't like cold water, and I also drink very quickly so the glass would eventually be all ice.
PwC 3 I would call myself more of a supporter of diverse food options, but you do you
OP appreciate that you are so considerate, but I thinks it's unfair on ur teammates part not to go to non Isiah place. In our team we go to diff places Indian and non Indian so that everyone gets their choice
Why do many American and European expats in the Middle East only live in compounds with other American and European expats. It's just more comfortable for them. Also Indian food is incredibly diverse. It's like combining German, British, French and Spanish cooking and saying it's all the same thing.
Trump will likely elevate your struggles soon enough OP..
I'm African and I always resort to my food coz American food is not spicy and lack A LOT OF FlAVOR
I am an indian vegetarian girl and my white team at texas would always insist on celebrating at a steakhouse and all i got was a boiled potato or grilled veggies
Does your place have vegetarian options? Or will they basically be eating a salad?
I think everyone is entitled to have and voice heir preferences and fave cuisines, but it's just rude if you make other people feel bad for wanting to try something else or going to team dinners ONLY if it's their fave cuisine.
M2 please visit Texas!
Pwc 3 that comment is uncalled for
