We threaten their insecurity.

That’s my favorite part. The calm half-smile gets them every time! They have some nerve saying we’re emotional and temperamental

Ego. Recently had a case where opposing counsel men treated me horribly. My male senior partners didn’t believe it because these men didn’t treat THEM that way. Finally a senior lawyer from another firm was there, witnessed it, and apparently reported back to my partners. Of course now they believe me. But I will take the win.

Happens to me all the time. I could write a book after 12 years of misogyny. The GOOD men in this profession will believe you the first time and defend you. It’s happened to me in the past, not often, but there are some good men out there. Even boomers, but few and far between.

Because their wives walk all over them at home and their job makes them feel like a MAN 💪🏻

Not a boomer, but a male attorney kept referring to me as a secretary. The first time, I let it slide. The second time, my partner informed him that I was working with him, and the third time I corrected him. My partner brought the issue up on a court call and he apologized. I told him “I know that I am a woman working with all male attorneys, but I am not a secretary, I am a lawyer.” I’m a junior and the rest of the partners are almost 30 years in. He has been “nasty” with me ever since then. Lol Be talking smart to me. But I’ve been eating it up and spitting it back out at him. 😂

Because until recently he could pay you less and pat your ass. Even make you go out to dinner with him.

Is there ever a time where you would take less money than you are making to move into another role? I have an offer where it’s slightly less than what I’m making now, but the company’s name on my resume may be more valuable to me in the future since it’s a tech company…..but a non-tech role….thoughts???

I’ve made it through the past three years of being super busy and focused on work and posts about feeling like you’ve lost friends bc of work had never resonated with me. All of a sudden I feel myself drifting from friends that get together a ton and I no longer always get the invite (understandably after I’ve declined far more than accepted). It sucks. I haven’t been the best friend when I’m absorbed with work. Can anyone relate? How did you fix it?

Chore division with your spouse/significant other: I see frequent posts about home chore division being a point of contention and while the best way to avoid conflict is to hire them out, I’m not in a financial position to do that. So, on Friday night I typed in all of the chores we both do each week and month and told him we would sit down each Sunday and parse out who does what. (Cont.)

In October, I have a wedding basically every weekend. Since I started work, I’ve missed a lot of weddings and have deeply regretted it. Curious to see if I’m alone in this situation . Do you feel like it’s worth being addressed and do you think these types of behavior stem from insecurities? I’m talking about more social cycles, not the work place.

I'm quitting my small firm ID litigation job with no set plan for my next move. I'm thinking I'll pick up some contract/doc review work or even waitress a bit or whatever until I figure out what I actually want to do. I already set a meeting with my boss for tomorrow afternoon, and he seems to have sensed what's up, so there's no turning back, and now I'm panicking a bit. Any advice on what I should ask for as far as transitioning out? For example, I have no idea what to do about benefits.
