Why do consultants allow there marriage to suffer and get a divorce instead of getting a more manageable job ?

So in the middle of a salary negotiation and the employer switches up. First the role was perm now all of a sudden it to changed to temp to hire after I didn't accept the offer and asked for a higher sign on and base. They are proposing 3 months temp and then they will consider perm. Before I respond, I wanted to your thoughts.

Is there such a thing as a legal job where you’re not constantly asked to do things for absolutely no reason? Client demands are becoming increasingly irritating for my peace of mind but curious if this is a profession wide problem vs a current job problem.
