I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

The job is likely not the source of the problem.
I think this depends on the personalities of the individuals you're speaking of. Maybe for you specifically three nights away doesn't shake your marriage, but I think for many people it would. I'm not married here just my opinion

Then how do you explain divorced people with normal 9 to 5 jobs?
What i’ve seen is people meet on projects and decide they like the person they met better than their spouse.
Also OP, have you spoken to these people about what went wrong and led to divorce? Did they blame the job?
Then I think they should take a deeper look and ask themselves why they prioritized their job over their marriage. Not saying this is good or bad, it just “is”. It likely points to a deeper issue in the marriage / difference in values. If a couple identifies that a job is the source of their issue and that person isn’t willing to get a new job to fix the marriage... there are definitely deeper issues.

Is it the job or the type of people that work in the industry? A lot of scum bags work in consulting
not sure if you’ve ever worked in industry, but there are lots of scumbags there too
There could also be a selection bias effect. Takes a certain type of person to want to do this job as well...
Would you say it's about 50% of people married in consulting you see end in divorce, less or more?
