If we keep scheduling meeting after meeting to talk about the projects when are we supposed to actually work on the projects? You probably work in one of those places where they love to meet and discuss every insignificant detail that could be solve over an email, if that's the case you can expect creatives to ignore it, but If you only set meetings when it's absolutely necessary then we'll see the value of them.
My time is mine. Not yours. As Jason Fried says, "Imagine if anyone could just take some money out of your bank account when they needed it. Time’s more valuable than money, yet that’s exactly what people are doing with other people’s time." https://m.signalvnoise.com/wait-you-dont-control-your-calendar-3a40f8f642fe
Also the PM is going to come by my desk to "see if I got the email" so no need
We like to keep our options open.
It's on my calendar even if I don't accept. So why do I need to accept?
Because there are too many useless meetings and meetings keep moving or get canceled and we have better things to do than constantly manage our meetings invites.
They don't believe in time.
Maybe you should make your emails more creative.
Because if we accept all the meetings PMs send us, we'd end up with another meeting on our calendar about how we don't turn around work fast enough.
It's hard to stay up on email when your main job isn't to stay up on email
Because their too busy making shit from last minute client deliverables
This thread, again, proves creatives are petty AF. Don't get mad when decisions are made without your input because you didn't attend a meeting 🙃
Ask yourself first: is the meeting is worth having?
We are all part of ONE team. We can't do our job if you don't come to meetings. Do you think everyone else has time? No. They make the time. Unfortunately, our work and the client deadline depends on you directing the creative. If you stop participating, things will be late. Then, we all try to continue on, and then you have changes, which takes more time for everyone. So, just manage your time and come to the meeting.
I'm confused why you need people to respond. I set all my meetings to not require a response because I don't want 30 accept emails flooding my inbox.
My team has the schedule and knows what meetings are coming up, I schedule meetings using the scheduler view in Outlook to make sure the people I need in my meetings are open at that time (and if they aren't, I go ask them if they can be available if no other time works), and I put concise agendas in my invites stating who is required/optional, the purpose of the meeting, and immediate next steps. Then I move on with my life.
👆🤣 it's funny because it's true.
Cause most are about "let's have a meeting about the meeting we are going to have soon"
If I don't decline, I'll be there. Because I have to be. Was there some account person illuminati meeting like a month ago where you all decided to start constantly bitching about this? Hasn't been a problem for years, now I hear a jab about it every other day.
@ACD 3 exactly. Many PMs treat meetings like their job is to get us to accept meetings. But what we really need is a project manager who helps us effectively manage our time and get work done. PMs who've worked well with me don't just fill gaps in my day, schedule specific meeting sections for specific people (I.e.: creatives come from 10-10:15) and NEVER SCHEDULE MEETINGS DURING LUNCH. @OP these answers should be fairly obvious.
Always respond tentative.
