I am being offered 26 fixed for 10.5 YoE in Java, Spring, MS and Oracle tech stack. This, despite my holding an offer for 28 (25+3). HR is not interested in even discussing a better offer and nor is she following up with me on what my expectations would be to consider taking up the role. What's the minimum role and compensation that I should be expecting from BofA for my experience and tech stack.Bank of America

To showcase that you have long history of great company pedigree. I think this has started in last couple of years. Makes little to no sense to me as they can already find it in their job history.
Isn’t that what LI’s mission: a destination where you lie about what you did somewhere to look attractive to others?

Instead of hiding that they are a d-bag they can now highlight it for everyone to easily see. Others will say it helps with recruiters but I think it’s negligible.
It means "my old job was more impressive than my current job"
Except that you very well may have been CANNED by Google or whatever other ex employer you are bragging about
It is such a bad look
I will probably reject any job applicant who does this
"You should be impressed by this name I have in my resume"
Well I might have been if you didn't turn me off with your ego babble and if you didn't just give away that you don't have much to offer except a dubious claim of high pedigree
It’s a flex. LinkedIn is so much like Facebook now. People overshare WAY too much. I hardly use it anymore but to exclusively network.
I put ex-asshole on mine… but it’s a lie 😉
Plot twist!
OP i agree w you 💯. So dumb.
This is my second LinkedIn peeve and seems like it’s a way to flex/brag. And perhaps to be more immediately eye catching to recruiters who are browsing candidates? But prob the former option though and they’re just maximizing on their humble brag.
When people don’t list their certification programs properly, instead making it look like they went to Harvard Business School when it’s just a cert program. They’re not fooling anyone!
I put it for head hunter to kinda know what I do and what industry I was in from glancing at my headline because I moved to a small start-up.
Tired of receiving super not matched in-mails just because some head hunters and recruiters don’t understand what I do and do not put much effort in. After putting the cringy ex company lots of nonsense in-mails went away so worked for me.
It’s just a succinct way to summarise your work history in the headline box. Better than something fluffy like “building businesses for tomorrow” imo

Naah that aint cringe. Its just a flex, irrespective of whether you like it or not. Stop the hate OP.
What I noticed is they have a business linked to success at FAANG companies, they are consultants, career coaches, resume reviewers so their selling point is that fact that they were at these high-end companies then decided to "branch off" and "help others" for the small price of [insert absurd price here]
I hate LinkedIn but here’s how I see that - it’s a more visible summary/flex of your CV. Yes it’s in your job history but when people are scrolling through profiles/recommended I doubt they are looking at every single profile to determine the job history.
The fine line of advertising yourself vs flexing…LinkedIn is a pile of wank because inherently it’s full of people trying to get attention and advertise their skills to potential employers.
Oh completely agree bothers me so much
