For me it's the chance to work with small companies on the cutting edge rather than giant corporations that lag behind in so many areas
You get to see a lot - a friend of mine at VC in the Bay Area takes 5-10 meetings per day with companies and has learned a ton in less than 2 years. And she’s made a ton of money - aside from comp, a few companies her VC firm didn’t want to invest in she invested individually and already has had a few big wins...
SC1, what work did she do before joining the VC firm?
Are there any VC firms in Pacific Northwest/Seattle or only Bay Area?
@Accenture 1, look at Maveron. They’re Howard Schultz’s VC firm
SC1 - Awesome - is there a natural entry point after MBA? This sounds like my kind of work...I’ll have 3.5 years of consulting, 15 years prior experience to that (military and government) and an MBA. Or do you need previous investment banking experience to break into VC?
