How is work life balance in UK compared to US?
KPMG employees steal everything at the end
Does anyone know if the same 401k rules apply at EY as Accenture so they will cap the contributions coming for your check say if you hit the yearly limits in August? So if you hit the 22,500 in 23 there is no way to go over for tax issues. Thinking to frontload next year contributions if market is down. EY

Upstream (product development) and downstream (marketing/sales) varies by company but you really do everything. Lots of overlap w consulting skills but the biggest thing is your product is your baby and you can't walk away from the problem when you roll off an engagement. Lots more people skills involved too in working with egos to push projects across the goal line.
You're basically a CEO of a product line/portfolio. It was pretty bad ass and probably the best way to learn business hands on. I went to an MBA bc at the end of the day I knew how only one company worked and needed to broaden my skill sets.
$$$, interesting work, growth opportunities / impactful work, and better life balance
Make your name running a product and you've got crazy street cred.
Depends. I was offered 85k plus 20% bonus and stock. That was on a non-public facing product.
A1, that's good but that's still not a lot of money compared to what Consulting pays. What made you turn it down?
I was just leaving the military and was interviewing at consultancies and industry to get a feel for both. Really liked Accenture and the offer was difficult to turn down, 110K as an experienced hire. Now at 120K after 9 months and the recent comp round.
Still not what I made as an officer in Hawaii but after a manager promotion lll be making more than I ever could have made had I stayed in the military.
Started in product management pre consulting /mba. The work life balance is night and day. And you actually have an impact on the business.
A1, I'm happy for you!
More money than consulting? How much are we talking about?
Opportunity to take a key role in a product launch, for something that gets potentially used by tons of people. Have seen salaries at 140k+stock+benefits in tech
Strategy&1, what were your day to day responsibilities as a product manager? Why did you leave to consulting post MBA?
S&1, thanks for sharing! I'm interested now.
No problem. I actually really liked my job and I'd definitely recommend it if you can find the right cultural fit. For me it was all about learning and consulting was a better move for me at that stage in life.
You're going to have a tough time becoming a PM if you don't know what it is. Living in Bay Area I've found this to be the ideal exit but I just don't have the background (no engineering skills)
