I dunno. I guess that they are trying to show that they use social media and are friendly. As a veteran and now retired teacher I didn't ever consider posting any stuff online, as recommended by my union years ago.
I think it’s a way to validate themselves. Lord knows our educational facilities don’t typically acknowledge us for what we do.
Btw, I don’t post anything on social media. I do not feel the need for validation or attention. My students success is all I need.
But I do work with people who absolutely crave attention. It’s rather annoying to be around them because they do it at meetings as well. I guess the, “look at me!” Syndrome seems to be why they are in education?! 🤷 the crazy thing is… they aren’t t even good educators.
Well, I'm not on TikTok so I couldn't watch the video, but generally speaking, I don't understand why anyone wants to air their life to the world. We've seen enough people, especially teachers, ruin their lives by oversharing on social media, but what we haven't seen is the net benefit of it. Who can honestly say that their life got better because they told the universe about their intimate details? At best, it's a neutral response. At worst, you can lose everything. When the most positive outcome you can hope for is that things don't get worse, it makes you wonder why people take the risk in the first place.

Probably for the same reasons anyone does
For attention?

I don't know, but I recommend avoiding it.
I put very little about myself on social media, and it's generally related to my professional life.
People should remember that once something is out there, it's basically impossible to take it back.
I figured it was to get advice from knowledgeable people.
Why does anyone post anythings on social media especially TikTok, Facebook or any other social media? The answer...an abundance of information otherwise kept to yourself...an outlet to speak your mind without repercussions...a lack of respect for others that creates a prejudice or slander behavior in those who otherwise wouldnt...and the list goes on. Technology is great, it's a foundation for the future with countless applications though over the last few years, it has created a culture of hate that is worse then any hate ever seen before including a hate that was illustrated by Hilter during WWII. It's a hate that is NOW creating an impact not just socially but globally. The problem is, we don't look at what we're writing or the impact those words have. We don't sensor ourselves to think about how those words impact others...we only think about ourselves which is how social media is separating us as a society.
Teachers post usually looking for advice from one another. Though sometimes the effects go to our heads looking for an outlet to the stress we deal with daily in the classroom...not only by the students but also by the parents & the administration. Teaching is no longer straight forward...parents are no longer involved...administration is only there for scores leaving the teacher with the weight. I am new to teaching K-12 though I've been teaching adults for years where that weight is on the students not the teacher. There is no burden from administration as long as students don't drop. With students who don't want to absorb the information to parents who think the education belongs only at school, not at home, it leaves a heavy weight on the teacher. A weight that should be shared with the parents.
Teaching is a NOW hard field to be in. People don't want to do it. Those who go into it right out of college will exit just as fast as they entered it. It's not the fault of the students or the teachers or the parents or the administration...it's because of "social media".
Everyone wants to go viral. People like to see who else relates to them. And attention.
No one cares over there about my life anyways. I hide my media now.

I’m on it to keep up with friends and former students. I see some of my students doing amazing work things now that I would have never known about if not for FB.
