McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

@A1, your opinion is appreciated and the reason many serve is to allow you to retain that right. Many who serve don't do it for the government, they do it for the people and the country. You say there is no honor in this, but it was the greatest honor of my life and consulting doesn't come close. I had many options out of high school. I chose to enlist. I chose to serve. I then decided to go to school and attended a top 5 undergraduate institution. After that I decided to remain in the military for 6 years because I wanted to earn the right to become a part of the military's elite. I ended up getting out for personal reasons and not a day goes by that I don't miss wearing that flag on my shoulder. I was able to get into strategy consulting without an MBA or business experience at the post MBA level of SC and many of my closest friends are doing amazing things both in and out of the military today as well. These were some of the smartest, most selfless, and honorable individuals I have ever met in my life. You don't need to revere the military. It's a job and there are plenty who have never served who will have a greater direct impact on our nation and society that anyone in uniform ever could, but don't disparage them. They are proud to serve, they are proud to stand ready, and if things ever get really bad I can assure you, you will be happy they are there and are prepared.
A1, what a bitch ass thing to say about the military. In time of crisis and need, you won't see a bunch of consultants running around trying to save or protect lives.
Hey @A1, I went into the military. My future looks a lot brighter than yours 😉
Seriously A1 - I am so embarrassed by you right now.
A1 I get your point but let's not make generalizations as to everyone's motivations for joining the military.
A1 - a lot of very intelligent people with very bright futures join our military as well.
EY3, you have no idea what you're talking about. Now would be a good time to STFU.
A1 - there are no words. I hope to God I do not work with you.
@A1 hey remember that time you talked about how people go into the military because they have no future, and then the guy who went into the military got a job at McKinsey and you're at Accenture?
A1, what a fuckin loser. I'm a brown immigrant that wears a turban and deals with enough shit from "patriotic" Americans on a daily basis, but I will always proudly say God bless America and America's military. No matter how or why service members end up in the military, they are now out there risking their lives and protecting this great country while our consulting jobs usually aren't helping anyone but a bunch of c-suite pricks in comfy boardrooms. How they end up there doesn't mean you can disrespect them. #donthatetheplayer Hope you open your eyes one day and be thankful for the safety and prosperity this country has provided its citizens. In the mean time, shove your "Uberblack and your consulting cash" up your ass.
@A1 how does it feel working for a third tier company while the guy who "blew away years of his life" got into McKinsey?
And...there's another person I hope I never meet in life...
Wow A1, I hope you did at least 20 years on active duty to be able to speak with such authority on this topic. The two smartest people I know served in the military and don't forget that women also serve our country. @OP, give them a quick "thanks for your service, we appreciate your sacrifice" or grab them a beer
@A2, hahaha the military hasn't protected shit. They're cannon fodder for political agendas and rich corporations. Meh, it helps keep traffic off the highway on Monday mornings when I'm in an uberBlack to the airport to make my consulting cash.
And no, you will not see me fighting in a war in any time of crisis. I'll move to a country without shit like that to deal with if the need arises.
@A1, nope haven't done any service and never plan to. I don't doubt there are some smart people in the military but I don't think it's such an honor to serve. We're literally the only country who do this shit. This respect for the military is the result of years of propaganda being fed to us to continue pushing political agendas and fighting other people's wars. There is nothing brave about the 80% of people who sign up and just mop up floors and get yelled at for cleaning it (or not cleaning it) for a few years and then finishing up, only to buy a Camaro at 15% APR. Glorified janitors and killers, imo.
@EY1, thanks for agreeing with me. Although I agree my views and my prose on this is a bit more hateful, my point is that serving in the military is not more honorable than your working at your local Home Depot. It's a great opportunity for those who have little options available after college and a great career if you go into officer schoolz
My apologies for writing that last line. It was a jab meant for A1, but I am sure there are plenty of Accenture consultants who are top notch and a much better consultant than I am. To all you Accenture folks - the generalization was uncalled for and is my bad. I just let my response get a bit out of hand.
This thread was not what I was expecting. Smh. Reminds me of when HONY did a series on veterans and all the freaks of Facebook ripped them apart for taking part in the Iraq war. I am as non-interventionist as it gets, but even I can recognize the sacrifices that men and women who are braver than I'll ever be make for this country. If you can't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front.
I always yield to them, but I've often though about buying them a beer or something. Would that be too much?
