Ageism laid bare. This is the sad reality of the business. Agency leaders who linger into their 60s, who have completely dismissed the value of their contemporaries to keep themselves afloat. Shame on you Mark Read.

For me, both financial and personal reasons. I’m not going to lie, part of it is the money, I want to maximize my wealth as much as I can. Personal reason, I think it would be the ultimate validation for my families sacrifices. My mom and I came to US when I was younger, the plan was for my mom to work a few months to make money and go back to South America when our visas expired. We ended up staying even though we didn’t have any family. Spent 11 years with my mom here illegally, eventually she saved enough money to hire a lawyer to help us apply for citizenship. I wasn’t valedictorian or anything in hs but I did well enough to get into a few well ranked school (between top 100 - 50) but when it came down to money we couldn’t afford it. So I went to a non prestigious state school. Worked most of my time in college at golf courses, as a valet and eventually internships. Went to big4 audit and after a year networked my way into consulting. An MBA from a top school or the dream M7 would be the ultimate thank you to my mom for her hard work. To go from moving from studio to studio, to seeing her son walk across an Ivy League stage. Nothing would make me happier than handing my mom that diploma. That’s why I want to do it, still a few years away from applying.

Personally, I don’t care what prestige means to people outside of the business world, I mostly care what that means to me and my family. Someone in business will most likely know that Kellogg is a better mba program than let’s say haas. Why would I care if let’s say an doctor doesn’t think that.
Hey man, I’m not going to write your essay for you!
All, I was just joking, please do answer OP’s question! I remember I had trouble thinking of how to communicate why I wanted an MBA.
To join MBB so that I can help underprivileged rabbits in Africa learn financial literacy

External validation and money.
Why do I want an MBA? Because I want to make bank bro. I want to get ass. And I want to drive a Range Rover.

1. Learn about business (undergrad in engineering, so there’s a lot I miss)
2. Learn about other industries (genuine curiosity how other industries function)
3. Understand the business context / decision behind data // learn how to make a sound business decision given data
4. Make my parents proud and build a legacy
5. Higher pay + more challenging consulting projects

I’m genuinely curious. I have my own reasons, and these things cost a lot of $$$ so I wanted to know why others are choosing to pursue it too🤷♂️

Career accelerator but imo considering m7 and t15 are both out of reach it might be a career decelerator for me.
PwC 1 - you can still engage in ECs activities at your workplace, that counts as well! I am sure there are things you have done outside of regular project work
I want access to the C suite level opportunities to drive the direction of a company or organization. While an MBA isn’t the key to get there, it certainly can help create connections on top of work experience.
