I'm confused - COL varies across geographies. Paying everyone the same would be unequitable. Imagine the quality of life difference at 80k in SF vs 80k in Columbus OH

like

Nope - only for Analysts who also start at 75k+

Assuming you are discussing the associates program. You choose where you live, we don’t require you to live in NYC or other HCOL city. There is no business reason to live in NYC other than a few niche career paths at IBM where clients are heavy based in NYC (Financial Services) or other expensive city.

Personal Opinion - living in NYC out of college is one of the most damaging financial decisions you can make out of college. This assumes no parental assistance. The lost time value money of the additional living cost is extraordinary.

like

Based on respective living costs.

like

Why would they pay more or less?

Cost of living drives cost of labor.

Well I think most consulting companies pays associates same salary across the country. This is why I assume IBM will do same. Also, since everyone works mostly remote it should matter so much.

Does IBM publish locality pay tables similar to what the fed govt does?

We have a tier city list

IBM pays people the same. Assume 2 people start from undergrad in the same practice and same city. They will get promoted to the same dollar amount. I have found there is no ranking of sorts based on performance like other firms do. Based on empirical evidence from B6 -> B9.

Differentiation at IBM is based on speed of progression not pay per band. If you’re good you’ll promote faster.

I've noticed that my coworkers tend to work more on their own than with others, even when they're all in the office. Is this normal? I feel like it would be helpful for everyone to talk about their projects more often—I mean, what if someone else has solved the same problem you're trying to solve already?

Live in a highrise and moving. Want to get rid of a lot of furniture including a sleeper sofa (which many pickup services won’t take). I don’t care if I get a penny from it and am willing to pay to get rid of it, in fact. But I’d prefer to not spend much time on it because I have a demanding job, and I also have the constraint of needing to schedule the loading bay and freight elevator in my building (i.e., can’t just sell on Craigslist and have a rando pick up at a random time).

Suggestions?

Hi! I’m graduating law school soon with a prospective job in-house at a tech company, doing a mix of transactional & privacy law. I wanted to know the average salary for a privacy (and transactional) lawyer these days, so I’m well positioned to advocate for myself. I have a GPA above 3.0, very involved at school, I’m currently working with them through the summer and have received a lot of positive feedback. Happy to provide more context but if anyone can ballpark some figures, very appreciated!

Having an Interview this week, and don't know how high I should set my salary expectations. I currently earn 24k/annum base + comission. Would it be unreasonable to say that I have 30k + comission atm? I think it also hardly depends on the location, I am currently working from Poand but would be working for a swiss company.
Currently have about 7months exp. and thoughts on this?
Appreciate the input

Looking in transitioning my sales/leadership career into notary and real estate in California. I currently have 18 years in retail sales / multi unit management and working in a National brand.

Is there anyone that can share what companies are the best to work for in real estate? Things to look for in compensation plans? What would I need to get to be a licensed real estate agent?

Anyone have insights to the process of being a notary in CA? I’d like to also scale this to a digital notary.

In the restaurant/hospitality space, what should be expected in moving from a single-Market leadership (Regional) role to a Director of Operations role where all Regional leaders are reporting into you?

Capacity and scope will increase from four locations to 20 with an AUV of approx $2.5M, scaling to grow at a pace of 5-7 new locations each year.

Is there a range for all-Brand Director of Operations roles, and/or what should that increase to the next level look like?

Started a contract job at beginning of Oct. @ $85k/year for four months with verbal assurance that they would offer me a permanent role and possibly pay bump after term (placement was thru consulting firm). Just received new offer from another consulting firm for $110k/year and 12+ month placement (likely longer). New consulting firm has a lot of interesting benefits but is a smaller, boutique firm. Does it look bad to be leaving job ~month in and do I tell current job to see if they can match?

I was initially offered $110k+10% annual bonus. I think I’ve already priced myself low which might be decent (not sure) for Toronto but way less in comparison with Bay Area where most of team will be based off. Any advice on how to ask for more base or joining bonus?

Interviewed with a remote-first company and was repeatedly asked if I'd be open to relocation (yes) even though they said no one really uses their offices. One person mentioned they prefer new folks to move to be closer to offices/sites. The salary range is fine for where i currently live and would work remote, but way lower than I'd expect if I moved somewhere with MUCH higher cost of living. Would it be possible to negotiate relocation assistance and higher salary if they "prefer" I relocate?
