Where are you located and what role are you targeting?
I just finished a pharmacy technician program as well
Yes this is because of the highly competitive applicants and limited number of positions. Plus, many of these jobs require specialized training and experience which can be hard to come by. As someone who recently applied for a hospital job, I can tell you first-hand that it was a long and difficult process, but ultimately worth it in the end.
Thanks
Sometimes it is because of your lack of experience. A good way to do it is to start as part-time or intern at a specific location. Once they know you, it will be easier.
Okay, thank you!
A lot of times it’s hard to get into hospitals because the “cost “ of training someone without experience is very high, Then often after they get the experience, they are offered higher pay somewhere else, and leave.
Well yeah, someone's always gonna get look over, there are soooo many applicants for some of these roles a lot of the time.
Many hospital systems have changed their hiring processes. Temp workers or contract-to-hire workers tend to have more success, in my observation.
If I had a choice, I wouldn't want to start off as a contractor. Some contracts specifically state that you can't get converted, or you have to wait a number of months, typically a year, to get hired on full time.
Hospitals usually prioritize internal hiring or rely on employee referrals to fill vacancies. Candidates already working within the hospital or those referred by current employees have a higher chance of being considered for the job.
Absolutely right!
