There are no tangible benefits being in a union would get associates. Unions can make sense for individuals who are paid low wages with few benefits. For us, it would just be a drain on profits (aka bonuses).
This is why there are associates committees where everyone can complain about not getting free snacks 😀

Lollll our weekly dose of socialist indoctrination brought to you by fishbowl. The reason we don't unionize is because clients wouldn't pay the rates they charge for associates to crank work product out on a 9-5 basis Monday through Friday. When the clients stop paying rates, the firms cut comp. Aside from that there's no reason to unionize, if you don't like big firm life, leave the big firm.
Technically the state bar is a union, hence all the protectionism with the bar exam to prevent non-union members from encroaching in their turf. But honestly, they are no Teamsters.

Right, the bar is also bad ;)

Quick, hide from the L&E attorneys.
First firm to unionize would lose clients and partners with the quickness. Plus we’re a uniquely mobile workforce (no non-competes despite having such high comp plus a very active lateral market in any decent sized city), so I think we can vote with our feet relatively easily reducing the need for a union.
