Why firm is “begging” for employees? I mean firm is now paying more and adding more benefits to show what can employee get and try to keep or attract them. Aren't they know that in a romantic relationship, the more you say “please don't leave me, I will do anything for you ”, the easier the other party to control you? and you will not get respect? I'm an employee wants more, just a question to discuss about the firm's strategy.

or it's the other story that the firm has always been the bad guy, manipulating and control, and when the good girl has the chance to leave, the bad guy pretended to be poor and wanted to keep the girl by painting rosy picture and using her sympathy. In the meanwhile, pretended to be nice and rich to attract other girls, so he always has back-up?

Huh what? Watch a lot of movies?😀

Btw, you can’t compare a romantic relationship with a employer-employee relationship as the latter is a contractual, business relationship whereas the former isn’t . Like comparing apples to oranges.

like

You must not be married. Marriage is very much a contractual, business relationship…

I’d like to think there is nothing romantic about the relationship between myself and the firm. Purely transactional.

What is anyone’s experience dating someone younger? I am finding that it’s slim pickings for guys in late 30’s/early 40’s— and I am now looking for long term and wanting to settle down and share the rest of my life with the right guy. There is a large dating pool of late 20s and early 30’s. I’ve generally in the past wanted to stay within a few years of age. Anyone have success longterm with a partner 8-12 years younger? What are benefits/ detriments? Thanks…

Hi,
CCTC including all benefits is 16.57 with 8.3 YOE, primarily focused on Manual Testing.
Is it worth looking for another opportunity?
I am afraid after seeing layoffs news of EPAM, Publicis Sapient & most of the other companies calling employees in the office.
I love my WFH in PwC India & base location of Kolkata. & the best thing is stability in PwC India, they never lay off!!

I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating? For example, fees to keep bar licensure, professional association fees, CLEs, etc. I feel like there is so much on that end I currently take for granted being covered at my firm. Anything else I should consider?

Hi everyone! Looking for feedback / suggestions. (6th Grade) I want to do a class read aloud & have students discuss different components & comp skills (types of conflicts, analyzing characters, etc…) but I feel like the high ones will be the only ones who talk, or the students will get off task & talk about other things. Any ideas on how I can gauge understanding w/o them just writing the answers down? I’m looking for a balance of open discussion & accountability.

Question for consultants in healthcare, what books have you found helpful in your career? I’m starting soon, but I come from a clinical background, and haven’t been exposed to that much beyond that. I have been doing a lot of reading (mainly JAMA/NEJM articles on policy, HBR articles, Christensen and Porters books on innovation etc). I’ve found them immensely helpful (I’m still early on, so I learn a lot with each new book). Outside of news sources, what books have you found helpful?
Thank you!
