Why has GLD gone down? From my understanding they buy and hold gold and gold price determines the price of this ETF. So why did GLD go down when gold price is going up?

Am I missing something?

Are you sure the price of gold has gone up? I see the price since 3.9.2020 plummeting (along with the rest of the market). From highs of ~$1650 down to $1530 per ounce. Could be looking at it wrong though

Yes, gold has gone down

I’m confused as well, sad it hasn’t been the haven I thought it would be

Golds gone down, but not as much as the rest of the market.

I have a gut feeling that it’s going to skyrocket soon. I’m buying now.

Then why has gold gone down while treasuries have gone up? I though they were both a good hedge against downward swings. What do you guys do to hedge your portfolios? Just short and puts?

Asset correlation has increased the last 10+ years

Saw similar issues during the GFC

I’m a homeowner and we have a 3.25% on a $600k loan. Likely needing to upsize to a $1.5-2.0M home (VHCOL) because of kids, but balking at the idea of paying $6-8k/mo in interest charges alone.

what do you talk about in your 1:1s?

I got lucky and now have leadership that seems to care about my career growth, but I'm 1. a little overwhelmed taking over a new role from someone who went on parental leave earlier than expected and 2. not used to thinking outside my day to day job, happy to keep my head down and just produce good work.

most of what I bring up in these meetings are logistical or prioritization concerns but I feel like my manager is expecting a lot more from me.

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
