Additionally, the tone of DC's movies has often been darker and more serious than Marvel's, which can be a turnoff for some moviegoers. Finally, the quality of DC's movies has not always been as consistent as Marvel's.
I agree. The mood of DC movies are a bit more niche than Marvel.
They're just not as good. They're half-baked a lot of the time and quite a few of them lack strong leads that we can attach ourselves to.
I agree. They really just aren't as good and the people who play in them usually aren't as good. The people want what the people want LOL.
Idk it seems like when everything is on point, i.e. Nolan's Batman movies, they can actually produce movies that rival and even surpass Marvel ones. But then you have stuff like Shazam or Batman v Superman that are totally ill-conceived, bloated, corny, or just a compromised product.
I think that one of the reasons that DC movies have struggled so much to find anywhere near the amount of success as Marvel movies is because Marvel has been building their cinematic universe for a long time. Marvel started making movies in 2008, and DC did not start until 2013. By the time DC started making movies, people were already invested in the Marvel characters.
I just don't think they're as good and the problem is, they went for the gritty route vs lighthearted humor which is Marvel's sweet spot. They're more family friendly in some way and more exciting.
There are many reasons why DC movies have struggled to find the same amount of success as Marvel movies. One reason is that Marvel has been building its cinematic universe for a longer period of time, and has had more films to establish its characters and storylines. Basically everyone is familiar with them nowadays.
DC has been slower to embrace new technologies, such as 3D and IMAX, which have helped Marvel movies become more successful. With how fast things advance every year, it's weird to think a company as huge as DC being behind.
Marvel has greater character development. Also the cinematography or Marvel movies exceeds DC's by miles.
I get it. DC's movies and storylines have so much potential in them that could rival that of Marvel's, but they just don't have the same fantasy, emotional quality, cinematography, and fanbase that Marvel holds. Marvel just has that certain pull factor with their cinematic universe that no one can ever dare to replicate.
IMO, DC doesn't produce the same quality. the movies often feel more thrown together and rushed. Compare that to Marvel who often have bigger budgets, take their time, and show a lot of respect to the source material.
In my opinion, it's because of Warner Bros. They just fumble the bag so much. There are great scripts out there but they often get scrapped. They should never have let Joss Whedon direct the Justice League in the first place.
Same thoughts actually. But I think it all boils down to the storyline? Some movies are not that appealing to the fans/audience.
