They operate on a reduced staffing, no frills, self serve model. Less employees means cheaper prices. Aldi & Lidl are both very common in Europe. I used to live beside a Lidl - loved the fruit & vegetable offering. Now my local is a Safeway - the smell of sugar & processed goods when you walk down the bread aisle is wild.

I love that smell 🥺🥖

It’s all leftovers and repackaged sub-quality food that didn’t make the cut for whole foods

Not true.

What M1 said and also I forget the exact percentage but something like 80% of their products are Aldi brands. So they have a lot of power and control over the supply chain. The assortment is much more limited compared to a normal grocery store so they don’t have a lot of spoilage costs or inventory problems that add a lot of cost

I worked for Aldi, The reason it is so cheap is they don't waste time on things so it keeps staff cost down which keeps overheads down. Things they do to keep costs lower They just put whole boxes on the shelf (saves time) They use full pallets of stuff (saves time of filling shelves) They scan fast to get more customers served, which means less staff sitting on tills doing nothing (fewer staff costs) Staff are trained to do all jobs so anyone can work anytime and noone is sitting doing nothing. The biggest reason Aldi is so cheap is that they make no profit on food or alcohol. that's right a lot of the alcohol they actually lose money. They make all their money from special buy items, canoes, hot tubs shoes etc

So I’m in a pickle. I’m 26, been in car sales for 6 years, and have no college under my belt. I want to get out of the car business but do not know what to transition to especially with my lack of experience and making 100k a year. I can’t seem to find a solid exit strategy. Thoughts?

Have an offer that pays ~$350-450k a year, but is very bonus heavy and about 25% of that or more will be restricted stock and options. Making ~$350k now all cash. And the way it’s structured, in the first year I’ll end up being ~$50k short for the year of where I would be if I stayed. Also requires a big move to a location I’m not too keen on. WLB is better, probably 50 hours a week but need to be plugged in 100% of the time. Any considerations I haven’t really thought about? What should I ask?
