Sounds like you need to find a better project. I'm not seeing this at all where I am.
Animation is crucial and actually makes solid money at the box office. Not sue why it's underappreciated
Animation is criminally overlooked by execs because they don't think there's an audience for it. They see it as a children's medium and don't think that adults will watch it.
Bob Chapek literally just said this. Sigh.
Executives are often more interested in making money off of blockbusters that will appeal to a wider audience, and they don't see the potential for animated films to bring in big profits. However, animation can be used to tell powerful and moving stories that can resonate with adults, and there is a growing demand for these types of films. If executives were to take a closer look at the animation market, they would see that there is a lot of potential for profit.
Animation is often seen as a time-consuming and expensive process, which can dissuade execs from backing projects
I'd love to see animated films with "no-names" and actual voice actors behind the character so the audience would pay more attention to the medium, artwork, and storyline. Sadly, they use the bigger names just for better promotion even when they don't put much thought into what goes behind everything that has to do with animation.
I think theres not that many execs who are confident that they can do it right. Live action, reshoots and rewrites may be easier than re-animating scenes that dont work.
Yes yes yes to all of this. I've worked for 3 different studios with animation houses (two of which I worked in the animation studio itself) and this is so prevalent. And - absolutely agree on celebrity casts. Chris Pratt, anyone??
I agree. A hundred percent. Animation can change the entire work. It needs to be utilized well.
