Why is Booth ranked so highly? I see people saying it’s right behind Wharton, but anecdotally people I know choose any other M7 over Booth. Their acceptance rate is also the highest out of M7 even tho the most generous with aid. No shade - legitimately curious?

Most people at Booth go to NYC. Booth places better in NYC that even CBS

I went to Booth, choose over another M7. Most of my friends also chose Booth over another M7. Maybe anecdotally, you found people at other schools and noticed several also got into Booth. That’s a biased way to collect data- I could say the flip that why isn’t Booth #1 when I see people at Booth having turned down every other M7. In terms of why it’s jumped in the rankings in the mast decade, I’d guess it’s partially due to the importance of data-driven decision making. Booth was the first school to introduce quantitative reasoning to all classes. A lot of schools are just now adjusting their marketing and strategy programs to include the use of data and analytics, not just the 4 Ps/ 3 Cs and Porter’s 5 forces.

Booth beats kellogg in cross admits. I think both Chicago schools lose to other m7s based on location. It’s as simple as that. I got the impression Booth is the most well rounded m7 outside of HSW. It’s known as a finance school but equals kellogg in consulting.

I’ve been impressed by everyone I’ve interacted with at Booth so far (more-so than some other M7/T10). UChicago is world class on the undergrad side as well. As far as I can tell, the real knock against the program is the location. Who do you think should be ranked above Booth?

like

Yeah, I’m sure the people are impressive In their own right. More a discussion of career outcomes/opportunities. To me undergrad is also irrelevant, but through that lens, every other M7 besides perhaps Kellogg/Northwestern has a more well known name. You can go further for Yale/SOM, Berkeley/Haas, etc as well. But agreed it’s in probably in large part the location.

Because of employment outcomes, student reviews, mid career earnings, employer surveys, and everything else that goes into the rankings

The reason why Booth ranks so highly is that most ranks are based on input and output. All the M7 have roughly the same GPA and GMAT but Booth outside of Harvard/Stanford has the best faculty. In terms of output Booth has some of the best post graduate employment statistics due to a pretty good career services department.

like

Yes, sorry if I was unclear. All M7s have roughly the same GPA/GMATs. HBS and GSB have slightly better faculty.

Disclaimer: I’m heading to Booth in the fall I’ve lived in Chicago for 3 years working in consulting for 3 years as well so I’ve met many people in and post the program. Just my anecdote but similar to most of Illinois, Booth relies on tremendous assets it obtained years ago. There’s an economic school of thought named after uchicago, all those finance folks they’ve graduated over the years are now giving financially, and they’ve developed a curriculum that is solid with fundamentals. I think other M7 attract a more accomplished and resourced student body (with is a large piece of the Mba experience) but if you’re looking for an academic play and are a big fan of socratic discourse, no better place to be.

Gunna push back on “other M7 attract a more accomplished and resourced student body.” My classmates were beyond impressive and incredibly accomplished. I also have just as accomplished friends across the M7s. We are all most alike than different tbh.

If we’re going with anecdotal evidence I would take Booth over any other M7

From Chicago. Would go to all of the T10 before Booth. South side is sketchy.

I’m not currently looking for a change (I left for industry in 2020 and really like my job). When recruiters message me on LinkedIn I reply to them because you never know when I’ll be open in the future and I don’t want to burn bridges. This one recruiter messaged me about 6 weeks ago for an assistant controller position and I replied back saying I’m currently happy with my job and am a VP of Accounting so wouldn’t be interested in an assistant controller role. He has reached out every 2 weeks

Hi Guys, While I joined Mindtree before 3 months, recruiter said I will be getting joining bonus after 3 months of joining. But it was not mentioned in the offer letter, as well as I was not aware that joining bonus will be mentioned in offer letter as this is my 1st jump in IT field. Now the recruiter left organization and my HR is telling they cannot accommodate request as it is not mentioned in offer letter. How should I escalate this to the recruiter's manager to get a positive reply?
