Maybe for R1, but even then, it's just an application cycle - people would apply thinking they would be able to travel in 1 year to so their MBA. Also, how many people from current batch are ok with doing an MBA 1 year later? The answer is - a lot. (source - my INSEAD batch)
Now couple those people who postponed their MBA with the usual number of people doing MBA each year and you have a bigger pool of people applying, making it overall more competitive. This doesn't even count in the additional # of people who would want to sit out the economic crisis doing an MBA which would further increase the pool of candidates.
If COVID-19 would have happened 3-6 months earlier, I am fairly certain this cycle would have been extremely competitive too as many people would have had time to prep their applications and do their GMAT (albeit many school have a waiver now), bit since it was R3/4 when shit hit the fans, it was too late for many people to apply.
90% I will, but will know for sure probably around June, when things become clearer with COVID-19
Well, there are two drivers: (1) many people are deferring this year which decreases the available spots for the applicants of R1 2021 and (2) More people typically apply during an economic downturn to weather the storm.
Head of admissions at Wharton estimated an increase of 20% in applicants for R1 2021.
The scholarships funds set aside are quite similar year from year; adjusted based on anticipated class size.
More seats, increased tuition.
Thank you! So you’re basically saying that I’m screwed, nice
Thank you! Yeah I aimed for R1, maybe in uncertainty people have no time to prepare GMAT or be sure of sponsorships etc and will get more competitive after that... obv it’s just speculation, I have no clue
