Switch from PwC last year and can agree technology is much better there. Laptops are all higher spec with double the ram EY laptops come with and also faster cpus. T&E is also much better and smarter (auto-populates expense categories etc)
Also much better firm vision regarding technology/digital in the workplace.
Guess I need to pay more attention to posting mode 😂
Worked at EY and PwC and agree that PwC is much better tech. I’m in audit and Aura is much better than Canvas and sounds better than the other firms as well. Mercury is completely ridiculous.
Aura is great until you get replication conflicts or someone replicates a corrupt file and you lose the work paper.
Not sure about PwC but doesn’t sound like they have any of the complaints we have. My BF works at Deloitte and the technology there is light years ahead haha.
Example: Mercury.
It should not take me half an hour every day to enter my time when I’ve kept track of time. Not a problem during audit season when I only hit one code but when I have to enter time in 5 different codes and need to separate out according to activity code it’s a nightmare. The half-screen is not helping.
Billing shouldn’t take me as long as a day to even get the invoice request back. ETC’s shouldn’t take half an hour to load and not save. I shouldn’t have to chase down ETC processing requests every day to make sure they are processed, and even after I email every day there were a couple times this busy season when they were not processed.
The whole point of CCS (our MSA and SOW issuing system) and Mercury is to streamline our entire process, yet I feel like a lot of things that should have pre-populated, we still have to re-enter 2 or 3 times in the system. Really basic things like name of client, address, client contact, etc.
Long venting session but yeah, whoever made the decision to streamline things really botched the execution.
Hahaha PwC2 - you’re right. I shouldn’t complain. You know, it’s probably a good thing I’m in accounting as I don’t have an imagination when it comes how unlucky EY8 is.
KPMG has fabulous time entry and a good concur implementation. GT&E was functional albeit dated. Mercury is a complete mess! Can’t speak to quality of KPMG audit platform but canvas wasn’t bad at all
All hail eAudit!
I was at EY for painful Mercury go live and am now back at PwC. Anytime people complain about T&E, engagement center, etc... it can be WAY worse. At PwC I can issue and cancel an invoice 15 times in the amount of time it would take to fill out a template and send an invoice request. There are still kinks in execution of standard SOW creation, but it’s improving. And I’m sure EY time reporting in Mercury has gotten better, but when I was there, each LoS was assigned a DAY of the week that they submitted time because the system couldn’t handle everyone being in it at the same time. That is legit bonkers.
Aura is now on “the cloud” from what I hear, so there’s no way it hasn’t improved by leaps and bounds since the MyClient Lotus Notes database days. I don’t audit anymore so I have never experienced Canvas or new Aura.
The ONE thing I did think was better on the EY side was that the document retention was in SharePoint which is easier in some ways (but also more disjointed) than DMS and there was the ability to directly link QRM type documents to the summary on the first page. Oh and Outlook. You don’t realize how much you don’t actually like gmail until you HAVE to use it and attempt to stay organized with it.
And not 100% a technology thing, but as a person who traveled regularly with many expense reports, it’s ANNOYING AF at EY that the firm doesn’t directly pay your AmEx.
