Agreed- it feels everyone around here is the exact same person
Lots of Oxbridge, I give you that, but not only. I’d say that’s about 20-30% of the office. But by definition, the remaining 70-80% isn’t.
A further 25-35% comes from LBS/LSE/Kings/Imperial/Warwick.
The rest is quite varied. My own undergrad was a bottom ranked uni, and my highest uni is Nottingham (there are a few of us there).
Sure Cap 2, feel free
Because that’s what the clients pay for.
This is the answer.
It’s one of the most sought after offices even within the firm.
It was the first outside the US so is pretty well-established. It’s English-speaking so most EU McKinsey consultants can transfer in but we can’t transfer out to them unless we know the local language. And we have sizeable specialised practices that we acquired in London like QuantumBlack and VividEconomics. If you want to work in those, it’s best to be situated here. + London is amazing!
Because they can afford to. Easily their most competitive location
The only established office in England. Being English-speaking and in London mean talent pipeline is unbeatable
- Literally the only game in town for Oxbridge/Tier 1 European unis graduates (undergrad + MBAs) who aren't fluent in other major euro languages.
- London still holds incredible sway for internal transfers from across the globe

What is the point of the question? Would you rather your cohort was full of bottom tier unis ran by mediocre managers? I dont understand the alternative...
