Vicious cycle wherein we are judged by fellow Desis for our job/income/car/house and then to defend ourselves fall into the same trap. We as a community need to work on uplifting each other instead of dragging each other down.

Money is important for most people. You being irritated by people who think money is the most important thing is a "you" problem not a "they" problem.
Are you passionate about something, well some people are passionate about being successful and the material wealth is the most tangible marker of that success. Some people grew up poor and financial security is the most important thing for them.
I would recommend you concern yourself less with what others do and draw contentment from a middle class net worth since I assume that's what you're advocating.
Just an FYI I have friends in Indian Telugu movie industry who are quite successful as actors and directors
I have few Entrepreuner friends (desis) whose net worth is north of 50M.
The common thing between couple of actor directors and also 2 entrepreneurs in US is that they don’t want to eat outside food, as much as possible they eat home
Made food and also when they visit parties unless they are eating at very close friends they don’t indulge in food even though they like it.
Reason for Entrepreuner friends is that they both lost their dad due to health reasons when they were really young. So they are trying to be conscious and keep themselves healthy.

I have slightly different perspective when I comes to things like these. If their stinginess doesn’t affect anyone negatively, you can just laugh at their behavior and move on but if it does, I get irritated by that behavior. One of my friends own three pharmacies and a multi-millionaire and he reuses his lunch brown bags and ziplock bags for 20-30 times before he throws them away. We laugh about it since it doesn’t hurt anyone. Some of my friends are really bad tippers at the restaurants and that irritates me a lot.
Well, last month I did projections for next 40 yrs and we came short of 2 million. 2 kids if they go to private college would cost 800k, for their marriage 200k, for our retirement in 25 yrs expense would be 250k a yr. From now till highschool family of four together would need 8-10k per month that includes mortgage, extracurricular, vacations and large purchase. This is assuming middle class lifestyle where you eat out 2 times, travel out of country , have 5 bed house. And I am not talking about investments still yet.
You need a financial planner, you seem to be way off the chart.

Why do you care? Desis are economically strong and saving money is a good habit.
Why are you even friends with such people?
Because some of us grew up with less money and still have a slight fear of spending money for very costly experiences.
I hardly spend any money anywhere else other than the things you have mentioned above, but I might buy a Tesla too, not to show off but because what it has to offer.
I’d argue it’s more important for non desi/Westerners.
Literally every single thing is super transactional, money-driven, l”I scratch your back you scratch mine” for goras and all

Point is unless your HHI isnt 400k+ and family of four will have to live little stingy to save for rainy day.
Because most people will die before that day comes 😀
I mean, it’s the primary reason I am here.
Only someone coming from a rich family equates “experiences” with money. I bet you grew up not having to worry where your next meal was coming from and had too much free time on your hands that you’d get bored and wanna have “experiences”.
If someone likes and buys a Tesla but are smart enough to avail free charging, why does that bother you so much?
They have so much net worth because they wouldn’t squander like you. You are the type that will make your kids struggle with having to work and win scholarships for college or not go.
Only someone with no idea on financial planning and greed for money will comment like this.
