Why is the consulting industry still not facing the music for all the useless air travel and resulting impact on climate change ?

Because we’re “airplanepooling” Heard a manager in my office say it’s like carpooling but flying

well it's not just consulting, it's sales, operations, and more. its more of a knock on airline travel than the people travelling...

I assume flying private makes you personally responsible for significantly more emissions

Omg I feel like you are the same Deloitte that posted this earlier and got a lot of feedback against your argument so you reposted. Companies do not care about the environment...travel costs are baked into contracts and thus companies are able to staff from a huge pool resulting in less of a bench. I hate to be the one to open your eyes but nobody at the top is going to suggest radical change because it’s risky

Whoa. I think currently we a agree that it's real. The new debate is whether humans cause it or not 😂😂

I avoid the office and the client site as much as possible You know... for... the planet...

Give me an alternative to a whiteboarding session with the same efficacy and I’ll listen.

We all don’t need to be at the client site every single day to have whiteboarding sessions. We can rotate days on site, go periodically. Flying 10 consultants out every week, posting them up at the Marriott all so they can sit in a little room hunched over their laptops is an insane waste of money. And, yes, it’s bad for the environment too. We can still fly out for key meetings and labs and whatnot, but the bulk of our time isn’t necessary.

Get off your high horse sir

Great. Woke Olympics has created the 'climate change in consulting' event. 30 minutes until the next one of these posts?

Lol woke Olympics. Def gonna use that

Don’t get me started on all of the power we burn running our laptops 12 hours / day... And elevators, can’t we just walk the 12 floors to and from our hotelling space? And the lotion bottles, thrown away after one “use” (ok maybe two “uses”)... It’s a mess

I'll be joining the consulting world very soon and am thinking about getting a new personal credit card. My meal expenses are per diem so I'm thinking about the AmEx Gold card as it has 4x points on dining. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on personal cards for consultants and how to go about my corporate card as well! TIA

Capgemini is hiring for RPA/Intelligent Automation roles in the US. I do not believe they are able to sponsor candidates for these roles. The roles are primarily remote (travel to client as required/when offices open) but would prefer the candidates to be located in Charlotte, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, and El Paso. DM me if you are interested in any of the below roles and I can provide more details. UiPath: Business analyst, developer, solution architect WorkFusion: Solution Architect

Anyone following this gabby petito case? I’ve been for weeks and it’s truly shocking how easily avoidable this could have been if the officers who stopped them didn’t fall for her fiancé’s “victim” bs. I can’t believe they told her to sleep in her van and put him up in a hotel for the night. The entire situation is a true mirror of how flawed our law enforcement system is to deal with crisis situations or DV disturbances.

I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I’m terrified of pregnancy but not of motherhood (except for the noise, kids are so loud).
