SDCs are not good long term jobs. They should be used as ways of getting in the firm from non-target schools. Use us for name recognition on resume or move out of SDC. We use you for high margin work in turn

Why would you be promoted just because reinvest? Are you performing at the next level? Do you have partners support? I haven’t seen a large difference in SDC promotion comparing to other parts of Advisory. I have done a lot of work with SDC both India and Colombia

like

The SDC is supposed to be a low cost center. If they’re handing out promotions it kind of ruins the model. You need to have a big impact on your project and be involved internally. Everyone’s booking 40+, that’s the norm

Leave the SDC, I used to be there..

@EY1: which SDC location were you in?

There are plenty of opportunities in the SDC for Reinvest

Hello. I am a Sr. Systems (Management) Analyst (equivalent to a Sr. Software Engineer), promoted to this position in 2019, from a Software Engineer position. I am doing really well and I always get great annual performance feedback. I work for a health insurance giant, that has a headquarters in MN (😉), but I am based in IN, with 10YOE total. I'm wondering how much I should be making, and if it is high time to ask for a raise or look for other opportunities and jump ship.

Would love insight from current or former BAH folks

Currently in finance ops group at a PE shop in Canada. In late stages of interview process w GS in NYC for similar role but at the Associate level. All indications point to an offer being imminent but I have concerns with 1) title (junior VP’s in the group have +1/-1 YOE than me, 2) base feels a bit light given I have 9+ YOE (job description says top end is US$160K)…Nervous for a change as current role is very comfy but nothing ever grows in comfort zones. Thoughts?

Due to a recent company-wide increase and additional pay for bilingual direct reports I am only making a dollar and change above them as their supervisor. Any suggestions on how this might be addressed?

I am a Manager at a big 4 international tax considering switch to M&A Tax in another big 4 or a prestigious firm International Tax group but with more structure work. Which one is better for a long-term plan (~2 years) of going to private with a mid/upper management position that is not compliance oriented? As for me, I was heavy on compliance until recent and wanted to focus on getting planning experience and management skills forward. I am a CPA and an attorney, but not a JD.

I have worked in municipal government for almost 17 years. I love what I do as an Inspector, but the environment is toxic, and administration horrible. I am hesitating to take lead role. But for my experience (8 YOE) I will have to take up that role at least in my next switch.

Could you please suggest me how can I come out of this fear. I am afraid of taking lead role because of below things.

1. Taking ownership for entire team deliverables.
2. Had to attend every requirement call and as well as technical review calls. (When BA is not good, need to provide acceptance criteria points).
3. Providing and justifying resource/work estimates.

Just recieved a offer from Western Alliance Bank for a Senior Business Analyst role. Comp 100k but the role would be in office. I currently work remote, have unlimited PTO,and a really healthy work life balance but am being underpaid tremendously. The new role seems like it does not have healthy work life balance and many red flags have already come up. I want to grow my skills and wouldn't mind being in office as I do miss being around people. How do I vet the role before accepting?
