I would never unionize with the people I work with we do not share the same values.
Yeah i think you’d find the top half wouldn’t want to work in the industry if it was unionized. Anyone who wants to put in extra effort for extra rewards won’t ever work in a union.
I’m generally pro union, but they would break the industry (maybe for the better?).
No idea of the actual numbers but I’d be surprised if demand for staff was outpacing supply of applicants.
I generally view unions as needed for workers who don’t have the ability to advocate for themselves in the workplace. Are you saying that we cannot speak up for ourselves?
Also, we have other employment options with our education levels and experience so can and should leave if we think our firms aren’t paying us well or treating us well. Protest with your feet. If enough people quit, they will change because they will have to.
Completely agree.
And sure there are some careers, like teaching, where you might be motivated but its not for monetary rewards.
