The two top Republicans in the U.S. Congress vowed on Saturday to oppose Democrats’ demands to boost a proposed $250 billion bill to aid small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic by adding money for hospitals and state and local governments.

I consider myself a democrat but actually think the GOP has a point here if what they’re saying is true - basically the democrats are asking for more money for hospitals before the government has even paid out the original $ to hospitals in the last relief bill - we have no idea what the true impact of the last money or the ultimate need even is at this point.
That said, I think this is a massively stupid tactical error on the democrats part. I feel like we’d have much better standing here if they were demanding much stronger oversight and OIG protection for overseeing how the money is spent, given how swiftly Trump moved to neuter their original oversight. Would have put Trump in a much tougher bind and wouldn’t give the GOP much to push back on.
