Additional Posts in Interview Tips
I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter for a remote Sr. Program Manager role. I took and passed the assessment and was moved to the hiring manager round which was scheduled for tomorrow. I got an email tonight saying that the Director of the group decided that the person must be in Seattle. I am in Austin, which is not an option. I’m disappointed! The recruiter will let me know if any remote roles come up but in the mean time, does anyone have any remote Amazon roles that they’d refer me to?

Providing feedback is time consuming and is prone to risk of lawsuit by potential candidates that did not get offered
It is frustrating, but it’s very time consuming to give individual feedback after interviews. Especially phone screens if the recruiter is responsible for multiple reqs, and talking to multiple people for each req. There just isn’t enough time.
It would definitely be helpful to be given feedback after 2nd/3rd/etc rounds as there likely aren’t as many people that were interviewed, although still time consuming to gather feedback from each interviewer and relay the information to the candidate.
On the candidate side, I get frustrated too, but totally understand their perspective.
Definitely think internal applicants should be getting feedback.
At least you received the courtesy of a generic email. I’ve never been more ghosted in my life despite following up with thank you/next steps emails and reaching out to ask HR and the interviewers for their decision. Could just be my industry though.
Rising Star
While I would like to hear the feedback, I think this falls into the category of "not their job."
The Recruiter works for the company, and their job is to find the right candidate (or, at least a candidate who can get through the interview process). If it is determined you are not the right candidate their responsibility toward you, the candidate, has ended. Unless there is some reason for them to maintain that relationship (e.g. you might be a good fit for another job) giving feedback isn't a priority. And, as others have pointed out, it might also open them up to law suits.
There’s really only one answer and it’s because of law suits.
