In order of likelihood:
1) You don't get a BCG offer (this isn't a slight on anyone, most people don't get offers from both BCG and McK, it's just luck)
2) You vibe better with McK people
3) You want a faster path to EM, AP, and partner
4) You want something closer to a national/global staffing model
5) You'd like better support resources around you (e.g. for slide design and research help)
6) You want slightly less parental leave
7) You think corporate swag is hokey and don't love the color green
8) You want a broader suite of opportunities serving corrupt governments around the world
9) You'd like to supercharge opioid delivery to vulnerable communities and occasionally have a conflict of interest or two, when you're not helping ICE reduce food costs for immigrants in custody
10) You plan to run for office one day

Because people outside this bowl actually know what MCK is

I like my greens a little darker
McKinsey name recognition is orders of magnitude higher.
If you work at BCG, you get to say “you’re like McKinsey” when people have a blank look after you say you work at bcg
I’m hearing work the same hours for half the recognition

McK has more BDE

You get to tell people that you work at McKinsey
I worked at JPMC and at a top 10 pharmaco after mck. Nobody cared about it. Now at BCG. It’s consulting in 2022 guys. Not 1980 when they were gods.
That green grows on you (like a fungus)
In all honesty, they are far more similar than different. The biggest thing I noticed is that it's common at BCG to ask about what McK are doing and how we compare. We didn't ask what BCG were up to when I worked there
My favorite color is green
I'm just here because I liked the little intro that McKinsey uses with their new content, where the melody is all like "E G# A#, F# A# C" with the C#m - F#mj chords underneath. They got me there.

Goosebumps anyone? ☺️

I definitely got goosebumps
Do you have offers at both? That’s the only scenario where you need to ask this question. The firms are more alike than they are different.
McK6 I got a "Why McKinsey?" in every fit interview. You have to contrast how McK is different from other firms and why that's a better fit for you — even if you're not name dropping the other firms you're referencing — both to show why you're a good fit, and to show that you have enough awareness of the industry as a whole to find nuances between three firms that are very alike, then explain why you're attracted to McK's nuances instead of the nuances elsewhere.

Blue is pretty dope!
It’s like asking why Muhammad Ali over Mike Tyson lol
Is it allowed to post a link here - answer in video format: https://youtu.be/NILqAwzO628
Seems it is allowed. Did a video on exactly this same subject (since question comes up again and again ;-)). Short answer is: It does not matter whom you work for, but if you have the option, join McKinsey :)
