Being skilled doesn't guarantee job security. But guarantee to fetch the job again. What if your employer has no more need of the skillset you are having due to fluctuating market conditions and requirement change.
Even if you are skilled, job security is important. Just because you have the skills does not always mean the companies will be hiring. This hiring boom right now is making people feel safe to take the risks, but usually after something like this there is a period where it becomes hard to find jobs because all the positions have been filled.
I think you can be qualified and do well...but if your company loses money or a huge deal, then it doesn't matter. Job security is just one aspect of work life but it does feel good to know that your position is secure and that contributes to working better. Even the most skilled people can mess up if they feel under fire all the time
