Why would anyone possibly drive to a non-local project? Coworker drives 10+ hours/week. You lose so many airline points and cause unnecessary damage to your car 😰 Please give me insight 🐠 fam!

Mileage $?

like

$.54 / mile. If you drive a cheap car you can buy airline tickets with cash and still have plenty of tax free money left over

like

$.575 is the new federal mileage rate for 2017. But yeah I do this, and I could take a train if I wanted. At end of the day, it's faster, I'm on my own schedule (minus traffic and accidents), and it's more comfortable.

I did this for 7 months on a project. Made $4500 on a car that was worth $2500 at most. Minus gas, maintenance, and insurance i still made $1500. Highway miles are good miles.

Sometimes u don't have a choice.

S1 totally right - it's not about profit. I look at it as a subsidy for personal use of my vehicle

I'd rather do this than fly each week

I’m really struggling with inappropriate client contact (physical contact by him while in the office). I’m starting to feel like I should escalate but just generally having trouble dealing with it

Touchy feely client asked me today, “how come you never talk about your family? Don’t you get along with them? Family is so important to me.” I’ve been feeling particularly alone and lonely during Covid, but even before... I’m 50, single, never been in a relationship, really feeling kind of down at this “midpoint” in my life. I kind of keep people at arms length especially clients I’ve never even met in person. 😔 How do you even respond?

I need help asking for help - more specifically identifying what exactly others can help with. There are extenuating circumstances in most cases but I’ve had coworkers out in bereavement, project scopes increasing, and my own capacities are shrinking with burnout - I can’t focus, misreading/misinterpreting, I’m spacing on finding documents/notes, and overall inefficient between calls with the volumes of emails. Friends & manager tell me I’m being too hard on myself, but work is only piling on

Hi 🐠, need some advice. Was told by my manager that time doing research (for info related to my client) is not client billable and has to be charged to the overhead code. This strikes me as fundamentally wrong, esp bc this is a flat rate project so the hours will just affect my utilization / internal metrics, not how much the client is billed. I asked for a non-billable code that counts towards utilization but was told my utilization is fine even though I’d be billing <40hrs & to use OH code

someone save this attorneys job. I hired an attorney with 5 years experience. I send her assignments and usually the law we're using. She never reads the breifs or memos we've prepared. Does her own research and usually misses the points. When I ask why she says she's intimidated by the memos etc and they're "hard". That drove me up a wall. We don't get paid to do easy things. Just because it's hard you give up? WTF.
