Why would someone working for the government pursue an MBA? I see that a lot of government employees do. But wouldn’t and MPA or a JD or Phd make more sense?

Well as someone with an MPP currently working for the government 🙃 I would say it’s in order to pivot to private sector or other industries, pay jump, as well as to refresh networks and have a new experience. The same as others. My background is in international organizations rolling out digital products (non-tech role) and supporting governments to implement multilateral agreements.

That makes sense.

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

Have been looking at working for foundations on the banking side post grad (ie, GS, BOA, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, etc.) or large family foundations that work on grants, community development and social impact post-MBA. I know Yale is well known for their social impact space but are there any other programs that come to mind I should explore? I was considering going an MBA + MPP because those really pair well with that kind of role.
